Roxana was the only daughter of Gobryas. She was initially wed to Bardiya due to her fathers military status. She broke the news of the deception of Gaumata to her father and helped Darius the Red murder her husband. Without wasting any time, she quickly fell in love with and married Darius the Red prior to his coronation. Her two sons born under Bardiya were adopted by Darius, and she nearly bore him his own. On the day she was to give birth, she was stricken with a curse-like sickness that killed her and her newborn.
She is the mother of Artobazanes and Ariabignes Kai. It is unknown if they were sired by Bardiya or Gaumata.
