Thrope

Summary

Thropes were the original inhabitants of Hoch El Aga (Hafiz Island). While other (Human)Noid ethnicities manifest in predictable traits with limited variation (height, hair type, skin colour etc), Thrope characteristics are much more variant in their expression. Essentially, a Thrope has animalistic physical, sensorial, instinctual and ontological expressions with a capacity for language and intellect like any (Human)Noid. The level to which a Thrope manifests animal traits like fur, claws, animal instincts and behaviour is dependent on the individual Thrope. Some Thropes look entirely (Human)Noid in their physical expression, while others look that way part of the time and can transform into an animal hybrid or full animal form. The extent to which a Thrope can change shape shift their appearance depends on whether they've cultivated this ability through ritual means.

When (Human)Noids first came to Hafiz, for example, just before The Eclipse, the local Thrope population was organized according to symbiotic relationships that were representative of natural habitat animal symbiosis. For example, Thropes of a predatory nature, like an Owl Thrope, would be comfortable with squirrel, rabbit or vole Thropes and could coo-operate in deep resonance.... the symbiosis transcends the predator/prey relationship that their animal archetypes naturally play out in the wild.

Even though Thropes were the original inhabitants of Hafiz Island, they mostly live off the island in small, semi-nomadic communities or tribes. De Jure, this is because Thropes generally prefer less urban envionments and de facto because after The Thrope Rebellions, Thropes were mostly forced off the island of Hafiz. There are however, two Sun Throne Houses that are comprised of mostly Thropes. Those two houses are House Strigidae and House Mard (Pekania).
