Morbach

Morbach

The guild with highest number of adventurers in the province of Sherpburg is Morbach. Specializing in monster fighting and taking on tasks outside of the borders of Sherpburg, has lead the guild to be the most diverse in the country, accepting nearly any member. As such, they are often also chastised for being particularly chaotic and have the second highest mortality rate of all of the guilds, and have been known to regularly be willing participants in a variety of scuffles and incidents, if not the inciting force themselves. This has given Morbach a poor reputation to outsiders and has made many wary of the menagerie of people that call this guild home. However, those who know Morbach know that there is no guild more willing to help those in need and make the personal sacrifices needed to help anyone in need. The accepting nature of Morbach has helped the guild grow into a boisterous family. Morbach is known for being a refuge for those who have no where else to go and is widely respected in Sherpburg as a dominant force in the provinces decision making.

History

After Kain Ooster's conquest of Sherpburg he sought to bring the people that had once been four distinct tribes together as one people. He also sought to consolidate the various groups in each tribe that did the same or similar work into groups to be better orgainzed and support each other. The first guild he created was one to cover the widest net and support the rest: a guild designed to pull from all tribes and be the foundation that his dream of unification rested on. He created the guild of Morbach named for the creature that killed his mother, so that there would always be a force to protect the vulnerable and her death would never be forgotten.

Eventually, the leader of Morbach Leati Reigns codified Sherpburg's connection to the elves of the Forest of Rhofan. During the War of Unification it was Morbach that initially encouraged the other guilds to pursue a diplomatic option as to avoid risking the lives of the rest of Sherpburg during the conflict. Morbach has also taken part in more joint guild operations than any other guild routinely assisting other guilds and other provinces with whatever they need.

Notable Locations

The guildhall for Morbach is a large wood and stone building in the south side of Oosterhof simply known as the Hall. The building houses a reception area where members are able to accept quests or talk to a guild secretary, and access to a variety of exclusive guild services. Foremost amoung them are the office of the Guild Master, Greek Reigns, a smithy run by renown dwarven smith Garlmin Oakenhood, Jasmine Dunn, a live in healer. The guildhall also houses one of the only bars in Oosterhof open to anyone, called The Tavern, a bar famous for its rare alcohol, fantastic food, and lively patrons.

The Hall is engulfed by Morbach owned shops and houses. Most of the guild live only a stone's throw from the Hall as membership includes access to housing. The tight knit bonds and tight packed living situation have led to something of an open door policy and it is not unusual for people to come and go as they please from just about any of the houses. New members are often assigned to live together more or less at random, or used to fill open beds.

Duties

Morbach's responsibility is to fight all manner of creatures that threaten Sherpburg, and by extension all of Grouce. The guild supports other guilds in their missions while also leading their own missions when a task does not fall into any other guilds purview.

Organizational Structure

Morbach is divided into five ranks marked by the rings that all members wear: Porcelain, Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. As a guild member rises in rank they are given new rings made of the material corresponding to their rank. A members ring is also inscribed with the date that they joined the guild and a gemstone if the member is an officer in the guild.

Porcelain

Porcelian denotes noncombatants in the guild. These individuals are still treated as equal in the guild but do not take part in quests, instead they are often shop keeps, administrators, or support and service industry workers.

Copper

The copper rank is the introductory rank and the most common rank in the Morbach guild. Once a guild member is accepted they are automatically given the rank of copper. A copper rank adventurer has access to all of the guilds services and is allowed to vote in all guild matters at the guild meetings that are held on the first day of each week.

Silver

A member reaches the silver rank by completing at least ten successful missions, with at least one of which being a joint mission with another guild. A member that wants to be ranked as silver must then also be recommended by a current silver rank adventurer. Silver ranked adventurers out rank copper adventurers when choosing jobs or new housing. Silver is also the rank where most other guilds start recruiting Morbach's adventurers to fill their own ranks.

Gold

Gold ranked adventurers are considered by many to be the peak of power in Morbach. Gold rank adventurers are those who embody what Morbach stands for. To become a gold rank adventurer a member must complete a mission in every province, a mission in cooperation with every other guild, must mentor a party to the point where all of its adventuers become fellow silver ranks, must make a trip to the elven lands, and must become a master in at least one skill. A perspective gold rank member must then be given a recommendation by at least two current gold rank members. Gold adventurers do not outrank silver adventurers for choice in housing or jobs, but it is considered proper guild etiquette to give priority choice to gold rank members. Gemmed officers of the guild tend to be ranked gold.

Platinum

Those who reach the rank of platinum are truly hero's of epic status. Only a handful of adventurers have ever reached this peak. For an adventurer to reach this rank they must have the blessing of the current Guild Master of Morbach, the blessing of at least two other members of The Council of the Final Hunt, and the unanimous blessing of all current gold rank adventurers. There are no tangible benefits to this rank other than the glory of your name being sung in the halls of eternity.

Gemstones

The guild also has five officer positions known as gems: Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, and Topaz.

  • Diamond: Guild Master- currently filled by Greek Reigns. The Guild master of Morbach not only acts as the guiding force of the guild but also represents the guild during any major events.
  • Emerald: Second in Command- currently filled by Clalthin Silverclaw. The second in command keeps the guild running. They are in charge of all guild finances and ensuring that all the appropriate licenses and documentation is in order.
  • Sapphire: Sergeant at arms- currently filled by Gin Spinecleaver. The sergeant at arms is the guild member in charge of discipling guild members and ensuring that the protocols of the guild are enforced.
  • Ruby: Personnel Officer- currently filled by Elum. The personnel officer is in charge of both recruiting new guild members and ensure that current members needs are taken care of.
  • Topaz: Historian- currently filled by Mark Cobbler. The historian's job is to maintain the guilds records and act as a voice of precedent in guild meetings.

When a current Guild Master is no longer able to fulfill their role wither because of death or retirement, a new Guild Master is chosen by vote. The vote takes place on the next festival day after three months have passed since the previous Guild Master stepped down. Whenever a Guild Master is elected they appoint the rest of the officers that will serve under them.
