Grouce

Before you stands the immense and chaotic stone building known as The Hall. The building that makes up the main headquarters of the Morbach Adventuring Guild may have been a simple hall at one point, but over the years as it passed between guild members, their plans for the guilds growth have led the building to become a sprawling mess of hallways and facilities. You clutch a small copper ingot in your hand and make your way through a rather humble wooden door and into the guild’s reception area. You see the humble waiting room with several others waiting for the guild tour to begin. As you strike up small conversations and exchange awkward laughs as well dressed halfling leads you through the guild facilities and towards your new quarters.

You have begun your journey as new adventures and fresh members of the Morbach Adventuring Guild in the city of Oosterhof in the province of Sherpburg. Assigned to each other as party members based on the skills you told the guild you may or may not actually have, you all have skipped the normally tedious experience of being a guild freelancer by the merit of you all signing up at damn near the same time.

Where you are from doesn’t matter to the members of the Morbach. People come from all seven provinces of Grouce to carve out a place for themselves in the guilds of Sherpburg. You might be a native of Sherpburg itself, continuing to follow in your forefather’s footsteps and joining one of the nine guilds. Maybe you are an orc from Granhan, striving to bring honor to your people and spread the word of Providence. Maybe you are from one of the small cities of Sherpmel, trying your best to make a better life for yourself and your family that you left behind. Perhaps you are a merchant of Veircourt looking to gain new stories to tell or a cleric of the Servants of Heiliger looking to spread the word of your god. You may be the child of a farming family from Romborn pinning after the exciting life of the adventurers in your favorite stories. Or maybe you're a young dwarf from Vinmur, tired of the rigid culture of your home province and the requirements of being a Followers of the Ode, looking for some well deserved freedom. Or are you a descendant of the proud mages of Amersham looking to master the magical arts?

However, as you take these first steps, other forces will continue to advance their own agendas. Rebellious groups seeking to overthrow the crown have been stomped out but their shadows still loom over the peaceful country. Destructive beasts from the surrounding lands press at the borders on all sides. Even those who were considered once close allies silently wait for their chance to gain power and renown. You will need to have the strength and the courage to rise up and use your strength to hold your world together, or else watch it fall to chaos.
