House of the Mage Otiluke
The modest home of Otiluke, City Oligarch and secret member of the Circle of Eight, is unassuming—yet within it resides one of Greyhawk’s most aggressive and impulsive wizards.
Otiluke shares his dwelling with a young apprentice and concubine, Glorial, along with a handful of servants.
A Collector of Vanity
Otiluke is obsessed with his own appearance. His home is filled with mirrors, reflective art pieces, and valuable trinkets—a collection worth up to 25,000 gp.
An Unusual Security Measure
Unlike other wizards, Otiluke does not rely on magical defenses for his belongings. Instead, he has studied every object in his home down to the finest detail.
- If anything is stolen, he notices immediately.
- He simply casts locate object, tracks the thief, and hunts them down personally.
- If the thief is alone, he polymorphs them. If they are part of a group, he obliterates them with meteor swarm or another area-destruction spell.
Otiluke – The Arrogant Mage
- Age: 39
- Height: 5’1”
- Weight: 102 lbs
- Appearance: Cropped black hair, thin beard, brown-hazel eyes
- Personality: Impulsive, aggressive, and highly animated
Otiluke’s animated mannerisms are further accentuated by his ioun stone, which spins faster the angrier he becomes.
A Controversial Member of the Circle of Eight
Though he has only been part of the Circle of Eight for five years, some within the group remain skeptical of his value. His aggression and impulsiveness make him a liability at times, but his political position as President of the Society of Magi and an Oligarch make him invaluable.
His membership in the Circle is a closely guarded secret, and he often feels the strain of maintaining such secrecy. As the Circle’s direct link to Greyhawk’s rulers, he ensures that the city’s most powerful mages remain informed of political developments.
Where to Find Him
Otiluke spends 90% of his time in the Free City. If not at his home, he can be found at:
- Otto’s residence
- Jallarzi Sallavarian’s home
- The Guild of Wizardry
- Various reputable hostels, often in the company of other notable mages
