Regional map of Granmor
Southwest Granmor- This region contains the Verdonese Heartland and Idrion. It is the location of two of the Empire's most important cities and the seat of its political power, as well as the source of much of its manpower and industry. It has a mediterranean to temperate climate.
Gonewald Forest - This region is basically a giant thick forest filled with hidden places of magical power. It was united concurrently with the expansion of Verdon by the Amathiri, allies of the Verdonese. After a rebellion it is no longer independent. It is a thick wooded area which varies between Tropical Rainforest, Temperate Rainforest, and Continental woodland.
Centralia - Formerly home to the Centralian Alliance, it was conquered by Verdon after exhausting itself in a war against The North over The Reach. It has a mediterranean climate.
The Reach - Rich in magical and mundane resources including trade access to Kolthis, this area was long a source of contention between Centralian and Northern-aligned powers. It is now governed separately by an Imperial administration, which is attempting to form a local culture to ensure its cohesion. It ranges in climate from Mediterranean (fairly dry on the Reach Plateu) to temperate.
The Northern Heartland - This large region full of dangerous weather and enemies bred a hardy but xenophobic people hated the Elves and their southern neighbors only slightly more than one another. Most of the area has a temperate climate vulnerable to extreme winters every few decades, the rest is Taiga.
The White Horn - The freezing White Horn is climatically Tundra, Taiga, and even a large Glacier. Lately it has been the source of some major developments, with Sergal occupiers given free reign and the emergence of the Snow Elves as Imperial allies.
Northeast Granmor - This region is dominated by Thalassa, a highly warlike Elven Theocracy. it also contains Kolthis. It is climatically quite varied.
The Wastelands - Thalassa wiped out all life in this area by using magical WMD against the Dwarves. It is a rocky desert where no life will grow, haunted by the specters of the war that occurred there.
The Great Desert - The proud and independent Humans who took this region from the Dark Elves have created a mercantile culture here. The Free Cities are walking the line between Imperial rule and keeping their freewheeling ways.
The Green Horn - This peninsula is dominated by rainforests and swamps. Long a source of conflict between the High Elves, it was briefly home to a Pan-Elven republic that attempted to unify the Elves against the Empire. Their city, Xethess was taken at great cost to the Empire.
Southeast Granmor - The secretive and incredibly advanced Elven nation of Fennein claims this land, varying between mediterranean and temperate in climate, as their own. The Dark Elves lurk in a complex underground cavern system in the Iron Mountains
The Broken Horn - The Southern Penninsula of Granmor which is split into four islands at its extremity. The temperate mainland is home to New Southmark, the successor state to one of the original great Human kingdoms of Granmor and an Imperial ally/buffer state which is constantly under attack by Fennein. The Islands further south are dominated by the The Sharptooth Kingdom, a Sergal nation which is allied with the Imperial. Much of their land, originally varying subarctic and temperate climates, was devastated by the Elves similarly to the Wastelands.
The Central Mountains - The embattled Dwarven Mountainhomes have held on to this region despite being surrounded on all sides by magically advanced, expansionist, and hostile Elves. The mountains are generally arid and not very hospitable.
