Muraille
This district is named for an ancient and dilapidated wall that runs throughout the neighborhood. What remains of this wall still encircles the heart of the Wall District, the Old Garrison. The remainder of the region consists of quaint shops, modest residential homes, and the best parks in the city. As Granmont's "Park District" visitors comes from throughout the city for Wall's recreational activities. The country club Granmont Acres provides sport and fellowship for the elite of the city but even commoners can enjoy majestic Palisades Park which features ancient remains of Wall's original ramparts, or, for the cost of a ferry, visit Isle Park for watersports and iced cream.
History and Culture
Wall is one of Granmont's oldest districts, predated only by downtown (Camino, Carrier, and Oaktops). The eponymous Wall once ran from Dechue Lake, near Isle Park, all the way to what is now Bluffs. Rue Mur still traces this path. The ancient military Garrison is still used as the official headquarters of Granmont's City Watch. The Suretry and Marchausse have other offices in Camino, but the Gendarmerie still calls the Garrison home. Most of the people who live or work here are one or two degrees of separation from the city watch--if you don't work with them, you know somebody who does. This sparsely populated district is mostly parks and ponds, making it a popular destination for picnics. Its also common to see guards-to-be training in the areaLocation in city
