House Veilleux

The Veilleux are among the most legacied of nobility, being among Granmont's Three Great Houses. They rigidly demand traditional social hierarchy. They despise the idea that commoners can rise to nobility through achievement, believing that true nobility stems from the Divine Right to Rule. But with this comes a firm belief in noblesse oblige. House Veilleux accepts their responsibility for the people of Granmont, and they always strive to the the right thing within their worldview.

Spymasters

House Veilleux has been granted command of Granmont's Agency of Operations, the intelligence agency for the Baudelaire region. The patriarch of the house, Count Baltazar Veilleux serves as Spymaster.

Chroniclers

Starting as mere notetaking, House Veilleux has evolved into the official chroniclers of the city. For centuries they've recorded as much of the history of the city as they're privy to (which is quite a bit due to their control over the Agency of Operations) into the Codex Astygraphy, a one and a half by two feet wide leather bound tome, inches thick that aways has about the last 20\% unfilled, regardless of how many pages are recorded. As it contains millions of lines, refering back to past events is done by asking the book questions, and it opens itself to relevant pages, going from one to another if there are multiple relevant entries.

Chronomancers

The patriarchs have long since practiced time magic, and the technique is passed from generation to generation.

Wardens of the Hotel

The Hotel de Montague is a grand manor used for visiting royalty and other guests of honor. Its multiple wings and lockable doors allow the estate to be segmented into several partitioned residences. The hotel comes with influence, and as the custodians charged with its upkeep, House Veilleux wields that influence freely.
