The Stars & Planets

The Solar System

Gothenya is but a single world in a solar system of 5 planets orbiting a sun (Kyv) similar in size to Earth's Sol. Gothenya is the 2nd closest to the sun. The other planets in the system are named for the gods of Gothenya.   The order of the planets are thusly...   Kyv (sun) > Yaress > Gothenya > Ryktal > Hindolos > Prix'al

The Moon, Syggos

Gothenya is orbited by one moon, Syggos, named for the deceased god of solitude. It is unknown as to the moon's ability to foster life, though some astrologers have "forseen" life on Syggos. The Boorka have the most powerful telescope in the west, by all accounts, and have devoted a good deal of time to studying the moon.

The Stars & Constellations

The north star, by which most astrolabes are set by captains of the World Sea is known as Zethya.   One of the most prominent stars in the southern sky is the red "demon star" of Velig.   Another prominent star is the "blue light" of Korbas Lindi.   Several known constellations include:   The Celestial Queen   The Spider of the First Diamond   The Great Tortoise   The Shy Falconer   The Cradle   Canis, The Dog Star   The Twin Lovers   The Zenithal (The First, The True, The Prime)   In addition, each of the major gods beyond the Zenithal has a separate star named for them, using their name of worship (without derivation).
