KNITTING CIRCLE (DCC RULES)

THE KNITTING CIRCLE
Founded by a loose consortium of mages and arcane experts, the circle is based in the small town of Tenford. Its membership is small, and not fully set in stone. Honorary members are often added, and older members sometimes fade away (or meet unfortunate ends).
The current membership includes the following humanoids and inter-planar entities…
  1. Head Mistress Giladra Gilane. Sometimes called “The Mad Medium” or “Giladra of the Ethers,” Gilane is one of the only founding members of the circle still present (or even in existence). Giladra is attended constantly by the spirit of a fallen Isagorn war chief of immense size, named Grunlag. Maybe use Hecate (ADBB 1, p. 40) or Sintar the Knower (ADBB 2, p. 74).
  2. Quinias Merto. “Quinias the Skeleton Master” or “Quinias the Grey” is the circle’s resident necromancer, and one of ill repute. Maybe use Set-Utekh (ADBB 1, p. 139) or Dzzhali (annual, p.58).
  3. “Aarghlan of the Red Flag,” aka “Aarghlan Red Maw,” aka Kelike Varble, aka Krimko the Toymaker, aka Zargot the Red, aka Nalhgraa the Reversed. His true name is unknown to all but possibly one other. Who may or may not be Zelna Lencore. Aarghlan is a devil, a pit fiend, and defector of the “912,823rd Reserve” in Hell’s Army. He was an officer, a “Red Colonel,” and his honorarium title was…
“Aarghlan thrice flayed, of the devil’s own, slayer of the damned, thwarter of Acheron, imbiber of the black bile of Malbolge, first to the front in the battle of Cania, demon’s bane, fey nightmare, and first place for most consumed of the prize winning soul cakes of Maladomini in contest against the hordes of Stygia.”
Aarghlan was the architect of the “scheme” to retrieve all Mt. Celene’s missing cursed artifacts, before they could fall into “wrongful hands of the under trained and over zealous.” Maybe use Ehawol the Fallen (ADBB 2, p.22) or Obitu-Que (Annual, p. 98).
  4. Selendris of the Stoney Eye. Former Gorguul (medusa) warlord turned advocate for peace, Selendris had her soul ripped from her still-living body and implanted into the arcane blade bearing her name. The location of her body is unknown to her, but she knows it still lives (and is being tended to). The Circle, upon discovering her (Aarghlan came upon her), decided to craft her a homunculus of sorts. A body which was both alive and inanimate, activated by possession of the blade. When holding the sword, the beautiful golem-of-sorts animates with the will of Selendris. When separated, the homunculus goes limp once more.
In sword form, Selendris can communicate telepathically with her bearer. In concert with her “vessel,” she can communicate normally. Maybe use The Three Fates (DCC, p.348).
  5. Ninguable of the Seven Eyes. An extra-dimensional sorcerer of unknown origins. (p.61).
  6. Sheelba of the Eyeless Face. A contemporary of Ninguable’s. Possibly of the same untold species. (judge guide, p.69).
  7. Hlosal of the Deepest Cowl. The last of the triumvirate of extra-dimensional beings of questionable origin. Together, the three form a “mage’s circle” capable of great arcane power. On his own, Hlosal is something of an “Elementalist.” Use Ptah-Ungurath (ADBB 1, p. 121) or Mulmo (p. 96).
  8. Thiadra Sin Everal. A merchant of great renown and finder of rare exotics. She is a secret member of the Club Masters of Varuum, though none of the other Club Masters know of her moonlighting with the Circle. Thiadra is also something of an “armchair Illusionist.” Maybe use Volundrar (ADBB 2, p. 82) or Kos (judge’s guide, p 45).
  9. Vendas Villa Norto. Master thief. Freelancer. One who stole the moon. Vendas is a half-elf of questionable age and gender. Highly androgynous. Quite the charmer. Maybe use Finngolric (ADBB 2, p.30)
  10. Lord Vorliss of Rocha. Honorary member of the circle. Death knight. Maybe use King Halgaz Bekur (ADBB 1, p. 32).
  11. Zelna Lencore. Honorary member of the circle. Thief. Magician. Expert on the long con. Maybe use Carnifex (Annual, p. 50).
  12. The arm of Rendel Starn Veyune. Animated hand, potted like a plant. Speaks by making a “hand mouth.” (ADBB 1, p 161).
Items recovered by the Circle include: The Rod of Ryktuss, The Amulet of Saitos, The Drum of Chronos, and many more!
Any of their rank could be a patron to the PCs. They should be allowed to choose who they “gel with” the most.
