DCC WORLD ASSUMPTIONS
WORLD ASSUMPTIONS - GOTHENYA
1. These are new and do not necessarily repeat those in other documents (but may).
2. Amongst humans, women predominantly host the majority of arcane spell casters, as they attune to the Eret Si’Nu more naturally at puberty.
3. Some human males have a degree of spell casting talent, but it’s usually in a diminished form. In virtually every case, the magic is granted them via an inter-planar patron (such as a Vu’un). Men without a patron do not have access to magic.
3a. Female human mages of great power may serve as patrons to human males (or even females).
3b. Human females may take a patron (though unnecessary), mostly to enhance their natural potential.
4. There is a bit of a stigma against male spell casters. “Gender traitors” to some.
5. The (common) intelligent humanoid species of the world:
COMMON
Native: Humans, Vess’ka
Transplanted: Vala’suun, Isagorn
Created: Grogan, Strouts, Mironesra, Fortreal
Hybrid: Pikel, Vistraal, Daemistaal
LESS COMMON
Ogres
Trolls
Minotaurs
Hengayoki
RARE
Giantkin (Hill giants, Ettins, Cyclops)
ALLEGEDLY EXTINCT OR MYTHIC
Created: Giants (Titans)
Transplanted: Dragons (Domesticated titans)
INTERPLANAR
Vu’un
6. All magic (divine and arcane) performed through use of the Eret Si’Nu. Divine is simply filtered through the “gods” (The Ulta) to man. Women may also gain use of the Eret Si’Nu naturally. Men must capture the essence via a patron such as a Vu’un.
7. Some of the crested species have access to limited magic.
8. Back when the gods were in contact with man, all intelligent species could (theoretically) have access to divine magic. The gods were simply occupied with gaining power through followers, regardless of their origin.
9. Grogans have nature magic. Of the created, they are botanically gifted to be the gardeners of the gods; terraformers of sorts.
10. In the south, where magic is most strong, powerful sorceresses are pushing the faith of Faldrighel in the name of the usurper queen, Essendra Halbion.
11. The crown of Wyeth is currently at “war” (dispute?) with several of its vassals, which are in open rebellion against the crown (partially due to long held grievances born of the 1st Usurper War… oft called “The War for the West”). The most notable amongst these vassals is The Barony of Rocha.
12. Lyssia has yet to declare for a side and is currently hotly contested by both warring factions.
