Adventure Two, Session Six Recap

The chapter began with the rotting purple worm, having burst through the floor of the converted temple, attacking everyone in sight. The worm also seemed to be scanning the room for someone... or something. As the nobles attempted to scurry to safety, some of them were swallowed or otherwise crushed by the worm. To make matters worse, a slew of skeletal warriors, risen from the crypt below, began scurrying up the worm's back, gaining purchase to the floor above.   The party fought the worm and the skeletons on two fronts, with the majority of the party on the top floor, while Manny and Oltorf fought the bottom half of the beast from the catacombs.   Amidst the chaos, the party also began searching for the diamond of Krysnias, to no avail. Eventually they realized that it fell into the possession of Roan Miller's assistant, Hewlitt who seemed to be under the control of Vorliss. Speaking of Vorliss, the Death Knight's presence was certainly felt, but he was nowhere to be seen.   Guy managed to tackle and apprehend Hewlitt, who tossed the diamond across the floor. Temerity then dashed for the diamond and it was magically passed to her through use of Guy's "Mage Hand."   Shortly after, and with the help of several lightning bolts (courtesy of Roan Miller, who's apparently a mage), the beast was weakened significantly. But shortly before it fell, it managed to swallow Roan Miller (along with an unfortunate bystander) whole.   Once the beast fell, Guy set about freeing the still-living Roan from the creature's innards. Once every was reunited, there was instant fear that the confrontation wasn't over. Especially seeing as they had yet to see Vorliss. The party wished to abscond with the diamond, in order to whisk it to safety, however they met opposition from Roan Miller (who was responsible for protecting the item while in the auction house). An argument broke out, and escalated to the point where Manny cast "Web" on several of Roan's sympathizers. Lewellyn suggested that he purchase the diamond from it's rightful owner, Fortiss Meer (who was just outside). The party reluctantly agreed, especially once the city guard arrived en masse.   The ultimate agreement was that the party would stay in town to be questioned, but would be released into Lewellyn's "custody" (a mere formality), and the noble would take possession of the diamond (once he paid Fortiss). The group, including Fortiss, retired to Lewellyn's manor house to discuss matters further.   Upon arrival, they met Lewellyn's major domo and protector, Shelby Honorace. And it was at this time that the diamond, it seemed, began to telepathically speak with Temerity, telling her that Fortiss Meer must die.   Inside the manor house, the group paid Fortiss and took possession of the diamond. They also began to concoct a plan to trap Vorliss and retrieve both the Rod of Ryktuss and Zelna. One involving the upcoming "Liar's Day Ball" and possibly the Angleport Museum of Natural History.
