Bristol Township

Bristol is a settlement on the mainland of Gotham County, close to Gotham City.

The area was first settled by wealthy Gotham citizens looking to move out of the city as the population boom of the 1840s lead to increasing overcrowding. Much of the area was marshland, but Isiah Wayne carried out extensive landscaping projects to drain portions of Slaughter Swamp and increase the amount of habitable land.

The town was originally rural, with considerable amounts of unspoilt forests and wetlands, with the homes of the wealthy placed at considerable distance from one another to allow for large grounds, but in recent years the population has exploded, and the area is now almost entirely residential, with many of the historic houses converted to apartments.

Although legally and geographically a sepperate settlement, most inhabitants of Bristol consider themselves Gothamites. Due to the geographical closeness and historic ties between the communities, Bristollians have the right to vote in Gotham Mayoral elections and are subject to city ordinances, although they are considered a sepperate community for census purposes.
