The Hells

History

In the early days, the Hells were a place of balance and creation. The Undeath, a being born from the union of creation and destruction, envisioned a realm where both forces could coexist, bringing forth a new plane of existence full of potential and power. The land was vibrant, alive with potent magic, where demons were not yet twisted by their own nature but existed in a more harmonious form. Their society was structured, their magic refined, and the world itself was imbued with wonder.   At the very heart of this newly formed realm lay the The Void's Heart, a massive chasm filled with swirling energies. This vast abyss was a source of unimaginable power—so pure and raw that it acted as both the wellspring of the realm’s life and the keeper of its dark potential. The Heart was not merely a void but a place that could create and consume in equal measure, its depths holding the promise of ultimate knowledge and magic.   But this balance, fragile and fleeting, did not last.   As time passed, the Undeath, creator of the Hells, withdrew from the realm. His departure was not a simple event—it was an act that left the realm to fend for itself. Without the guiding influence of its creator, the fabric of the Hells began to fray. The energy of the Void's Heart, once a wellspring of life, started to twist and distort. Without the presence of the Undeath to stabilize it, the very heart of the realm began to corrupt. The demons, once noble and driven by purpose, found themselves at odds. They were no longer bound by the harmony of creation and destruction, and in their freedom, they began to grow more chaotic, feeding off their own dark desires. These desires gave birth to the Demon Lords—each one embodying a particular aspect of the darker side of the Hells. Wrath, Greed, Corruption, Despair, and Fear took shape, and they each carved out territories for themselves. However, in their newfound power, the Demon Lords did not initially seek war. The Hells were still a place of considerable power, and the lords, though ambitious, were restrained by the latent energy of the Void's Heart. But it was only a matter of time before one would rise to claim it all.   Among the many demons that roamed the Hells, one rose above the rest: Ozraxis. His true origins are shrouded in mystery, as the exact nature of his creation is unclear. Some say he was an avatar of the Void's Heart itself, born from the swirling energies of the abyss, while others claim he was a powerful, ancient being who had been molded by the chaos that followed the Undeath’s absence. Either way, Ozraxis was a force like no other—ruthless, charismatic, and ambitious. From the moment he was born, Ozraxis saw the Hells for what they were: a land without leadership, without order. He understood that in order to maintain the power of the Void's Heart, he would have to assert dominance over the fracturing realms and the demons who now ruled them.   His first move was to manipulate the Demon Lords—not by force, but by understanding their desires and fears. He struck a deal with each of them, offering them something they craved in exchange for their fealty.    Rekthar, the Lord of Wrath, was offered the ultimate battlefield, a place where the flames of rage could burn endlessly.   Vrothak, the Lord of Corruption, was given the power to rot the land itself, creating a domain where decay and death would flourish.   Zaltherix, the Lord of Avarice, was promised an endless supply of wealth and the ability to hoard until his greed was sated.   Sythra, the Lady of Despair, was granted the freedom to spread sorrow without end, to witness the crushing weight of hopelessness in every corner of the realm.   It was Lady Zevalia, The Dread Tyrant who was the hardest to sway. Her hunger for absolute power was unmatched and her paranoia grew moment by moment...she was not easily manipulated. But Ozraxis, ever cunning, appealed to her need for control, offering her the title of supreme ruler over the entire realm—though Ozraxis would, of course, remain its ultimate master. Ozraxis bound the Demon Lords to the Void, tying their very existence to its shifting energies. As long as they ruled their territories, they would draw power from the Void, but in return, they would have to serve Ozraxis—who controlled the very heart of the realm.   To ensure their servitude, Ozraxis crafted an arcane Pentagram, a magical symbol that linked the territories of the Demon Lords with the Void's Heart. This Pentagram was not just a physical map, but a complex weave of magic that tied their fates to Ozraxis himself. Each Demon Lord’s domain became a corner of the Pentagram, while the Void's Heart sat at its center, drawing power from them—and offering it back in return. This ability gave them the power to be able to reach up to the mortal realm and offer fragments of the void's power which empowered the first warlock on the mortal realm.   Under Ozraxis, the Hells transformed into a place where power ruled all. The Demon Lords may have ruled their respective territories, but their rule was tethered to the Void's Heart—a constant reminder of Ozraxis’ supreme authority. While the other lords sought to expand and grow their power, Ozraxis remained at the center, ever watchful, ever vigilant. As the realm continued to devolve into chaos, Ozraxis solidified his control, becoming more than just a king—he became a force of nature, an embodiment of the very destruction the Hells were founded upon. The once vibrant lands of creation were now a twisted reflection of his own dark ambitions, and with the Demon Lords bound to him, Ozraxis ensured that the Hells would remain his kingdom, no matter what forces of rebellion or chaos arose.

"In the depths of the Void, where creation and destruction are born as one, I am the shadow that shapes the world. No realm, no soul, no will is beyond my grasp. I do not rule by power alone—I rule by the fear of what you cannot escape."
