Session 10: Special Delivery
General Summary
Last we left off; Ray was met with a decision regarding the forge. Upon entering the office, he found his father put under a magical sleep and his family's rival Maerla Ironfist leading the charge. While Ray was dealing with his father and attempting to figure things out, the rest of the group witnessed Aeren Grimvein be pulled down by spectral hands into the ground and disappear. The dwarves around them were too busy to notice that he had been pulled down into the hells. Come to find out, her family had been given orders from the Hat that it would be the Ironfist family that would rebuild Adheath and that the forge was necessary and this would be the perfect opportunity for them to step out of the Cyst family shadow. The Windbury dwarves paused for a moment as the group collected themselves, Ghost messaged The Hat with an almost expedited response that everything was where it needs to be and the events unfolding were to be expected. After some discussion, Ray Cyst decided to use some serious Rizz on Maerla, warning her of the dangers of working with the hat and she needs to be careful and allowed the dwarves and her to continue loading up the forge onto the wagons to head to Windbury. The group then retrieved the cart that they had previously utilized and returned and headed towards the city of Blale. One night while camping, there was a severe storm with purple lightning flashing off in the distance. The blade of Swordbearer Annghorhast spoke to him, "What a joyous occasion and time for celebration. A new moon keeper has been born!" After some banter and Boots aka Ghost believing that the old man was acquiring dementia by talking to himself, the group finished resting and eventually made their way to the city of Blale.
Entering the festivities of the The Glimmering Revel, the group found themselves almost instantly attracted to the performance of Aritay and Echochime. During this time, Claude Minie found himself alone in the inn that he had paid for the previous night and was wandering around the town. After the performance, Boots aka Ghost found herself sneaking into her dressing room, noticing another woman, a mummified cat, and a young child. Ghost handed over the book that she had stolen from Nadena and rewarded her with some items. While all this was going on, the group was approached by Claude who was following the coin, almost like a glowing beacon. Becoming warmer to the touch as he neared the coin in Amahri Rhea. Sitting down for drinks, Claude questioned the group about the experiences that they had in Cerulea Tower and the group found that their experiences had been completely different. It was during this time that the call was made for the fighters to come to the colosseum for the grand tournament. Rheese immediately left and the group eventually followed him. While registering, he ran across Rook, his previous mentor from The Wayfarer's Guild that was working security along with another from his previous group. After registering, Rheese involved himself in some degenerate gambling, winning "Big Money" until the construct that he had been winning against ran out and had to return back to a bank to refill on coin. Ghost at this time also registered for the fight. So, as the battle royale ensued, Annghorhast watched from the stadium, Rheese and Ghost fought valiantly, but in the end could not beat the "skill crusher" and were rushed off to the healing chambers. Meanwhile during this time, Ray and Claude decided to investigate the construct, finding a broken one and awaited to see what would happen.
Ghost awakened, the light hitting her eyes as she glanced around noticing that she was in a warehouse. As she goes to check her equipment, she realizes that her tires couldn't lift up off the ground. Tires? Yes, tires. Ghost had been turned into a utility truck and Rheese had been turned into a moped and the two of them began receiving orders that propelled them forward, unable to withstand the call and became productive members of Blale's society for a few hours until Ghost was able to take control and got herself stuck on a bridge.
Meanwhile, Ray and Claude followed the utility truck that had picked up the broken construct that took it towards the docks. As they stepped up to the guard station two guards stopped them and told them that they couldn't be there. With some fast talking and flashes of paper, they convinced the guards that they were there for a surprise inspection and proceeded further into the docks to begin looking in various warehouses to see if they could find anything. Investigating the warehouse that the construct was taken to, they found a female elf cackling and smashing things with acid inside. Eventually she left and the two entered the room, finding a conveyor belt leading into a melting pot and a large pipe leading underground. Ray set up some explosives there and left his familiar next to it, issuing an order to set off the charge should anyone other than him or his allies investigate the area around it. Searching the primary office in the warehouse, they found a secret passage behind a filing cabinet that led them underground where they followed the heat signature and pipes before coming to an underground factory that was creating husks of vehicles and constructs. Following it to the end, they came upon a room with a somewhat robust woman and a large goliath wearing golden armor at the far end. The two began sneaking around, unfortunately Claude bumped into a car and knocked one of the mirrors off and the Goliath began investigating. Now, performing rogue-like tactics in Ghost's honor, the two began throwing ball Berrings around, causing all kinds of distractions until eventually Claude summoned his beast, and the Goliath promptly killed it before the two popped out and began fast talking again, saying they were guards from the festival that had been chasing that beast all the way down here. The woman didn't believe them and attempted to cast some magic; however, Ray wasn't having it. After a few failed attempts a look of sheer panic and fear came across her face and she dropped down to her knees crying, begging for her life believing that Ray had been given the compass and had been sent here to kill her. They smoothed it over with the Goliath who promptly told them to exit and began consoling her and the two began running down a long and winding hallway trying to find an exit.
A cool breeze blew across the empty colosseum as an old moon elf stared off in the distance. After watching the full battle and waiting entirely too long for Ghost to return, Annghorhast decided it was time to go and find her. Making his way through the facilities he asked around, getting similar answers from people. He checked the healing chambers, but no one had seen Ghost. Still feeling like something wasn't right here, he continued asking around until finally he saw a purple dragonborn that he spoke to. The dragonborn offered him an answer and told him that his friend could have been moved downstairs and offered to show him the way; Annghorhast refused. He refused long enough to let people continue doing their thing before turning invisible and making his way downstairs. Opening up into a larger chamber, he moved around until he came to the end of a hallway with a light on, someone reattaching an arm on the left and a door with the words "RESTRICTED" on the right. He stepped into the room and placed his hand on the cleric's shoulder before complimenting him. Cale the cleric suddenly freaked out, but Annghorhast reassured him that he was doing a good job and when he was finished, "encouraged" him to open the door. Moving into the restricted area now, Annghorhast ran across a room with hundreds of people inside, laying in beds, hooked up to equipment, and all asleep. Emotional Support-Hast began asking Cale about everything; unfortunately, Cale didn't know. It wasn't until he found Alerick that his demeanor shifted slightly. Alerick informed him that he had been attacked and had told the blade Nurn to escape and he didn't know where she was. At this point in time, Cale made his exit. Annghorhast decided since his seer was dead and this seer didn't have a blade, then it was a match made in heaven. Oh look, isn't that your traveling companion over there?! Ghost awoke, grasping Annghorhast's shoulders in shock, explaining that she had been a car; Alerick saw this opportunity to escape from the blade and wild shaped into a panther and ran out. Rheese was awakened next followed by "crane guy". About that time, Ray and Claude ran past the open door and Scooby-doo stopped before going back into the room. With that, the group had been reunited. Huzzah!
After catching up, the group left crane guy to continue unplugging people where they promptly turned and went back the way that Ray and Claude had come from, coming back upon the woman and the Goliath. This time, the Goliath intervened, telling them that they had gotten a pass before, but he can't let them continue to run around down there. A battle ensued. Annghorhast found himself caught in a spatial distortion while the rest of the group attacked the Goliath and the "princess" wizard made her escape. Moving and shifting a little along, she managed to make it down the hallway before downing Ghost at the end. They eventually downed the goliath Durokk; however, Ray stabilized him and brought him back up to have a conversation. After taking the honor of death away from him, he felt indebted to the gnome and explained to him that he was a member of the The Hexblade Pact and were the protectors of Lord Varos. That they were utilizing Arienna's gifts to create power sources for the town and that he didn't care what the rest of them did, he had a responsibility to her. He also mentioned a resistance group that had bubbled up, attempting to fight back against Varos and gave them a name: Theron Vance. He pursued his princess while the group returned back to the warehouse, exited the docks, and with some keen eyes Ghost was able to find some halfway baked thieves cant inscribed on a door of a tavern. Entering the tavern, they ended up running across a half-orc bartender, a human woman, and a man. After some discussion, Theron came out and introduced himself, insulting the moon elf, and making friends all within a matter of minutes. The group decided to come up with a plan in the morning; however, Ghost had other needs and talked Theron into helping her sleep. The two went upstairs and had some talks, where he revealed that his mother had went missing and that anyone that even remotely speaks poorly of Varos suddenly disappears. After gaining some more information, the two went to bed. Before succumbing to sleep himself, Annghorhast used the iStone (as well as an old man could) to contact the blade Nurn where she explained to him that Alerick had been attacked and she ran and the blade was guiding her back "home" where she needed to be. Annghorhast immediately contacted Alerick with that information to which the response was merely in a Geralt style voice, "Fuck."
Now the group succumbs to sleep to prepare for the next morning, but it's not visions of sugarplums dancing for some.
