Nymeria is an initiate at the Magaambya Academy. Hailing from the clouded and secluded island of Haven, Nymeria's curiosity has, in a fashion of sorts, led them to attend the Academy.
Description
Appearance
Nymeria is a ghoran with faded lavender colored skin. Her face and body have bark like groove lines, faded pinpricks of yellows and oranges dotting her body almost like scales. The bridge of her nose extending to her forehead has a pronounced bark like texture and coloration. Her hair is a cascading series of long green leaves, intertwined with purple vine like braids of and blooming flowers at her crown. Her skin is a mixture of smooth bark like grooves and petal like scales in soft yellows, oranges, and pinks. She wears minimal clothing, earthy and natural made of plant-like materials and leathers.
Personality
Background
Nymeria met with a bard named Orvin during her travels to the Magaambya. She unfortunately gives him the incorrect directions, and leads him astray.
Act 1: (S:01 - Current)
S:01 - Nymeria arrives at the Magaambya Academy after traveling through the Mwangi Expanse for several weeks. As she enters the academy, she meets Rubina, along with Adira and Orvin, and the group of prospective students travel together to begin their initiation.
The group encounters their first battle, and Nymeria supports the team with her wind abilities, boosting their speed, and while hesitating a hurting the animals involved in the fight. After the fight, she meets Takulu Ot, and begin the initiation.
After successful rounds of tests to prove to Takulu Ot that they were worthy of joining Magaambya, Nymeria and the group earn the title of Initiates, and begin their journey into the academy. Takulu asks the group what defines them, is there something inside them that pulls them?
Nymeria wishes to explore and experience. Her greatest strength is determination, that they won't stop, and does not want to stop exploring the unknowns, ready for the challenges that come along. Nymeria believes there is something larger at play, something she believes her sponsor believes themselves, something greater than herself. She believes her feet will take her to where she wants to go. She's hopeful she'll learn that if something happens that's too big for her, she'll know how to push forward.
The group choose a symbol, and earn a cantrip and and an entrance bead and are officially Initiates.
Welcome to the Magaambya
S:02 - Walking around the academy, Nymeria is shown keen interest in many different areas of the school. As they approach the statues that surround the Magaambya, it is said that the statues whisper to favored students. Nymeria approaches Zuberi the Unbroken's statue and whispers, she does not receive an answer back. The Circle was an impressive monument, and Nymeria showed a particular interest in the elemental energy of Air, and Water, feeding this font of elemental power. Teacher Ot says that this magic is old, and unable to siphon from it but easily accepts magic.
The group arrives at the Powder Pile, and meet with Xhokan. They received clay to form their beads, and a 40 gold stipend. Nymeria did not want to keep hers, a sign she does not like to keep material wealth. Xhokan insists for her to take it, as he starts to get nervous that she's not grabbing it. She accepts it for now.
The group meets with Esi and Chizire, which Chizire offers mangos to the group. They enter the Spire Dormitory, and spend some time meeting with Noxolo and Anchor Root. Both Esi and Nymeria attempt to not bombard each other with questions, and so agree to write around 17 questions to each other, and can be answered in their own time. After grabbing blankets from Noxolo and not choosing a room just yet, they all went to the dining hall with Esi.
Arriving, they encountered a spectral bison and cheetahs attacking the stalls around the hall. Nymeria and the party were quick to action, and slew the summoned creatures without taking a single hit, Nymeria being careful and hesitant about even harming these spectral summonings. This is when they met Mariama and Ignaci. The group admits the bison was very scary and smelly to reassure Mariama's worry about her bison being too weak.
S:03 - During dinner, the group meets with Teacher Ulawa, and after a few questions, the group finds out Eshe draws, and Nymera and Eshe agree on a drawing session (with Nym wishing for a copy.) Nymeria tells the group that she does not need to eat food. The drawing is complete and gives it to Nymeria.
The group ends their night with their nightly tasks.
The First and Second Task - Duck, Duck, Ojofiri
The following morning, the group does their morning routines. Nymeria wakes up and usually meditates outside. The group meets with Esi, who explains the tasks that follow, and the Perquisite. Then she introduces Haibram.
Haibram is an aeromancer who flies on air kites and is going to be providing the First Task. The task commences and the group enters the markets. They meet some people who recently purchased an Ojofiri chicken, and they are pointed towards the direction of the stall. They find the stall with the chickens ran by Makena, and with a quick bartering they successfully complete the task. Nymeria takes an interest in asking Makena questions about being a caretaker of the animals. With a few questions answered, Nymeria finds out of someone named Oba who cares for even more serious creatures, and can be a source of basilisk blood. Makena feels more endeared to the party now that Nymeria has shown such interest.
As they return to Haibram, before they got a chance to celebrate, Esi rushes in to begin the Second Task, the pugwampis. Knowing that this would be more of a social battle, they instead go to find Anchor Root.
Adira convinces Anchor Root that they can indeed help with the pugwampis, and the Second Task was complete. Since this was already completed a day early, the group had a free day.
Questions For The Necromancer

Show SpoilerEshe explains that part of their faith would suggest that Eshe is meant to hate Noxolo, but the other portion of their faith calls for community and connection. Noxolo states that they are open to answering questions, as long as they are never asked to apologize. Noxolo offers the spirits a choice to stay or go, taking on a risk by giving the spirits so much control, but they do not wish to extend their control on another living or dead.
Noxolo also reports that they help the spirit pass on when their time is right, if they are asked to. Eshe compares Noxolo's practice to a communion instead of servitude, which Noxolo very much approves of. Eshe's bugs aren't a big fan of Noxolo. Eshe asks why Noxolo chose the Magaambya…Noxolo felt the pull to act and assist those departed. Eshe offers up a talisman to Noxolo, and is informed that one of the talismans (made of bone) is apparently unlucky and offers to speak with the owner to find out more. Nymeria turns to Noxolo to ask if they are very well connected with their past.
Noxolo reports to be able to name 18 generations of their mother's family, and 21 generations on their father's side. Noxolo could not say anything of their temperaments or personalities though, so they know about their past but not in a way that offers connection. Noxolo is hopeful that Eshe and Nymeria will become closer with them through the time at the Magaambya….Noxolo will be getting their own letter. Eshe through the last bit of discussion, is crying uncontrollably and unnoticeable.
The Third Task - I'mbo, Youmbo, We're All Umbo.
S:04 - The group begins the Third Task given by Chizire to collect ingredients, with Noxolo accompanying. With the first task to collect bones, Nymeria and Orvin begin to distract people around as Eshe and Noxolo collect a cow corpse. As the bones were the first to be found, the group decides to venture out of the academy and Nantambu, to enter the jungle to locate the Scarlet Caps.
As they explore the jungle, Nymeria looks for small bugs and frogs, little creatures on the forest floor. Her embracing the jungle brush around, touching the plants around, her physiology almost mimicking the colors of the jungle, careful not to hurt anything.
The group arrives at a large clearing, where a tree in the middle was found, with growing scarlet red mushrooms. Both Adira and Eshe take up the task to climb the tree. Suddenly, huge stomping is heard, and the giant mushroom Umbo attacks. With Noxolo knocked out, the party begins their fight.
S:05 - The party collects the final ingredients, and Adira and Rubina's wounds are treated by Uduak. The group then helps with the Third Task. The team finishes the Ritual, and successfully complete the Third Task.
The Fourth Task - Cohort's Divine Delivery Service
The party heads towards the Fourth Task, by Ignaci and Strands. It's mail delivery time, and the party will be on Elephant Birds. The group travels through Nantambu, delivering mail towards multiple locations despite the addresses being difficult to decipher, and some even being meant for Gods. The group delivers a letter to a God, whom requires an egg to be swallowed. Another letter requires spells to be casted, and another sent to Gozrah, up in the sky. The final delivery is to a hut very far from Nantambu, the hut of a Green-eyed Witch. The hut however was infested with giant slugs trying to kill the witch within, and a cat! The party come in and slice and dice some slugs ("Yes chef! Behind! Re-fire!") and save the cat and the witch. The door opens and reveals Green-eyed Jatya, a harpy woman.
S:06 - The party introduces themselves to Jatya, who then explains to us why she's so far out of Nantambu. We find out that Jatya is a carnivore which Nymeria is happy about.
As the party returns from a successful task, the group is treated to a feast by Ignaci and Strands. They all head to the Spire Dormitory to rest for the remainder of the night.
The Dream of Dreams

Show SpoilerVeins extend from the darkness into the light. Nymeria takes steps to follow the veins into the dark. Reaching the source…the space is darker and light seems to suffocate. Nymeria hears rain like a drumbeat, and they notice that they are starting to get rained upon. they are outside and find themself within a storm. A smell of blood in the air, and sees broken earth beneath their feet. spikes, columns of earth, and thick water.
Nymeria is on a bridge within the expanse, and they see a person face down within the earth, and surrounded by a puddle of blue-green. With a slight tremble they take their hand and make their way to the person to see if they are breathing. Nymeria will also touch the puddle and finds that it is luke warm and more thick. the person is in thick leathers, and a broken staff is tossed to the side. Nymeria turns the body and sees themself. the body looks different, but Nymeria still recognizes that this is them. The wounded Nymeria is in pain, and our Nymeria feels they are looking out from within a mirror. they feel pain rack through their body as they switch to the perception of the Nymeria face down in the ground. they feel incredible pain all over, but especially through their chest. A Mwangi man with a blue dragon scale around their neck approaches Nymeria and begs them to hold on. the man says that he will get medicine and return, cursing the Magaambyans who had done this to Nymeria.
Nymeria calls for the man's name, he says that if Nymeria does not remember him…then he has no name and is no more than a ghost. He swears to take revenge on the elf that did this to them. the man takes something from Nymeria and runs off into the distance. n=Nymeria leaves this event and finds themself as our Nymeria. A woman's voice urges to Nymeria to not forget her, and that Nymeria often looks like they are trying to recall something that is out of reach. Kayleath, Kyra, Orin (spelling???) are all present. the sun is warm, and Nymeria awakens within the dorm. Getting up abruptly they cover their mouth, and goes to their pack to journal as much as they can of the dream.
Nymeria would take notes of the ghost person event, but not that they were actually the person dying. Deemed "Nameless Person" they also would not put the Kayleath portion into the journal either, expressing simply that they were in Haven.
The Fifth Task - Stories for the Uzunjati
The following day, the group heads to the final Fifth Task. They meet with Okoro and Esi, whom they must tell a tale for the Uzunjati.
Nymeria tells the tale of their small conversations with Eshe and Noxolo, highlighting the differences in culture and beliefs that have set them potentially at odds. Nymeria realizing that there is nothing corrupt or malice in Noxolo's actions, and enjoys the beauty that Noxolo ascribes to it. Noting that corruption often ends up beaten out of someone back at home, and they are very glad to see that this is not the case in the Magaambya.
As the rest of the group tells their story and finish the task, they all decide on the Branch they will pick. Nymeria and Eshe join the Cascade Bearers. The group travels in tandem to the Introduction Ceremory, where they find Mariama in a pool of her own blood, and the ambush begins.
Nymeria and the party quickly get rid of the threat. They successfully capture Kurshkin.
The Knights of the Broom Closet
S:07 - As they wait for the Pugwampi being interrogated, Nymeria is a bit distracted, dissociating with the events that occurred. With a successful interrogation with the aid of Adira, Eshe and Orvin, the party get just a little bit more information.
The group is escorted back to the Spire Dormitory by Mafika (who provides the Tempest Sun Mages bead to Adira), and Adira reassures the group that we should look after each other. She invites everyone into her room.
The Soul Cries Still Formatting

Show SpoilerThe discussion goes back and forth on what could possible be plotting against the Magaambya, enough to attack during the introduction ceremony. Some make insights about what could've happened, others had their own questions. After a few minutes of discussion, the meeting is adjourned, with every a little more comfortable that we're looking out for each other.
Three Months Pass By: Autumn Arrives.
S:08 - Time passes by as the initiates continue their studies. Nymeria does an incredible job as a Cascade Bearer, critically succeeding in her studies.
One day, as Nymeria is observing Noxolo playing with a spectral cat, they sense something behind them. Unable to look, Nymeria felt an eldritch, rotting presence grow closer behind her. Nymeria calls out to Noxolo, and Uduak Basni was also in the area continuing his studies. They are unable to see the presense. Noxolo grabs Nymeria's hand, and go to the Elephant Library, where Rubina and Eshe are.
As the reach the library, Nymeria suddenly glows with a power, and a creature is summoned within the Library. A symbol of Flowers on Nymeria's forehead, she sees the creature has the same symbol. As Nymeria reaches out to touch the creature, the creature suddenly melts, desiccated and rotting in front of them, only for the creature to return back. The creature calls himself Tonali, and addresses Nymeria as a friend. Noxolo confirms they're able to see Tonali fade into near death and back to life, and Eshe finds a book on Eidolons, which is what Tonali appears to be.
After a conversation about the event, the group goes to their planned visit to Teacher Ot, whom had a task ready for the Anteart Cohort. Teacher Ot mentions a status update on Kurshkin, and their plans for him. He continues with the plans to investigate the Tree Stump Library as shadows have been reported to be seen within the abandoned library, and has requested for the group to go retrieve some lost materials. The party leaves Nymeria and Teacher Ot to speak in a Silenced room. Teacher Ot offers Nymeria to contact a colleague of his that happens to be a summoner, which could shed some peace to Nymeria. Teacher Ot also reveals a book about Ghorans to Nymeria, and all of this is a lot to process for her. She leaves to rejoin with the rest of the party.
The Tree Stump Library Investigation
After some shopping, the group reconvenes at the Tree Stump Library to begin their investigation. Nymeria seems very overwhelmed by the previous events, and wants to get this mission over with. As they enter, Nymeria questions Adira's ability to unlock the door so swiftly. The group enters the library. After a bit of exploration, the group encounters a group of Scrits who all attack, Tonali is summoned, and the fight ends with success, and finding one of the items needed.
A heavy thumping occurs from one of the doors, and the next battle begins.
S:09 - A series of battles occur within the Tree Stump Library, and each room had some level of investigation. Several Wasps, a swarm of silverfish, and lastly a large slime.
With the first door that had the wasps, hive made of paper-like material covered the room. The hives were broken to avoid any issue, and one of the books was found. Rubina and Adira recover from their wounds, and they visit the next room. It was too dark for Adira, but the group enters and find books scattered about and furniture, and a cauldron lined with onyxes. The cauldron was saved for Noxolo as it is discovered to be used to communicate with the dead via spirit (alcohol). Here is where Nymeria and Orvin met with spellskeins that were hiding in the room. They were collected for safe keeping. As the party continues their search, they find a swarm of silverfish that were eating the spellskeins and other paper. They find another book, and move to the next room. The room was locked magically, and Adira was able to crack the lock (again, to Nymeria asking why is Adira so good at that.) There was a shape of a body made of ash in the middle of the room. The remains of a person who was locked in the room, who was imprisoned by spellbinding shackles with Thasolonian runes. The final fight with an ooze ends successfully after Adira and Rubina take a lot of damage, with Rubina falling unconscious.
S:10 - Rubina recovers from their wounds, and the party has finished the final portion of the investigation. Orvin and Nymeria collect ooze samples. After the final book was found, Nymeria offers to heal Adira's wounds. The group leaves the library and go direct to Teacher Ot.
Teacher Ot welcomes the group back, and the cohort explains all that transpired. The books are returned, then handed back to the group for each person. After everything was said and done, Adira provides the additional information about the person who was dead in the room. Ot's behavior noticeably changes, and begins to explain about the original Cohort years ago when he was in his own group. Adira was so confused by how her parents never told her anything about the Magaambya or when they were in their cohort. She asks Teacher Ot to send a message over to her parents, to try to get them contact her since the last dream visit months ago. Adira leaves, noticeably running back to the Spire Dormitory, Nymeria follows after.
Distressed, Disorientated, Disorganized. Still Formatting

Show SpoilerAdira struggling to come to terms with with intensity of the story, and feeling as if she calls her parents cowards for leaving. feeling a split between her actual mother and the story book version. Concerned that her parents were adamant on having Adira attended despite the experienced danger from before. Wondering if Musarasa being dead was known to her parents or not. Adira searching for answers, and then realizes how much of a show she's made. Nymeria holds her hand, and they have a moment together. Adira expressing thanks for the sincerity from Nymeria, and expressing that she misses her Uncle. Nymeria expressing some concern about Tonalis's appearance as well. Adira expressing to Nymeria to trust in what Tonali says.
Three Months Pass By: Winter Arrives
During the next three months, members of the Cohort investigate leads on the past events they've experienced, answers to mysteries yet to be understood. Nymeria curiously does not dream anything.
Cold and Hot Reflections

Show SpoilerBeing Ot's summoner friend! Nymeria is brought to a study. A vast swathe of snow. Mikhael "Mishka" Thorne!. Nymeria stepping through the new portal presented to her, and finding herself incredibly cold. Mishka asking the flame( his summon" to burn brighter and keep Nymeria warm. Mishka reporting that he has been asked to check in with Nymeria every now and then to make sure things aren't getting too out of hand. Mishka interested that Nymeria is not able to summon her eidelon at will. Not feeing seen and understood bridges some connection between the two.
Mishka teaches nym that the eidelons are partners not master servant. Mishka asks if Nym feels that she has harmed herself in some way making it more difficult to connect. Mishka, after messing with Nymeria, takes steps to get Nymeria to connect with her magic.
Tonali attempts to reappear, but is actually too cold to stay :(. Mishka offering Nymeria some tips and exercises she can do with a harrow deck and other mental exercises. Nymeria makes their way back through the mirror. Making sure to take time to get a mirror and another harrow deck in the near future.
Nymeria takes time to research into their Ghoron book, and learns about the history of the druid that made all Ghorons. Ghorons breaking away from the Nexians and establishing their personhood. Nymeria then crits on self-reflection on the research track. Trying to explore more on who Nymeria is. After spiraling significantly and leaning into the idea of navigating herself and learning more about this strange life she is experiencing. Nymeria does really well in classes, and surprisingly passing with flying colors and surprising themself and a few others.
During Crystalhue, Nymeria gave several gifts to the Cohort, and Noxolo and Esi.
The Starday Tournament
S:11 - Before the Starday Tournament, several members receive letters and gifts from people from afar that have finally reached the Spire Dormitory.
Nymeria receives a package and letter, packed with various trinkets that have a magical theme. Carved wands, quills, owl feathers, marbles. all along with a note! "In case you need something for enchantment". tucked into the corner is a blown glass bottle that is filled with a shimmery glowing liquid. the letter from Amayra (mentor) "how are you doing? I hope you are well! I hope you are at Magaambya! Update on every single person's life from haven. "the bottle of liquid is sourced form the lakeshore from the beach where they spent a lot of time in the summer". Nymeria updates their notes, and does a bit of a meditation with the liquid. Kaera has not returned back to Haven. some of the elders performed a oracular stone throwing and found that they found a new family on a new shore and are ding well. Nymeria goes through their room until finding a drawer filled with unsent letters that had not been sent out. Realizing that none of the letters actually got sent yet, and makes a point to send them out after the festival.
The tournament begins, and Nymeria watches as groups fight and fail against the wooden robots. She sees her own Spire Dormitory members get decimated on the second battle. Before the fight begins, she sees Rubina acting rather vigilant, and tries to match that energy with her nervousness taking over, until she receives a pep talk from Adira. Once the team is mentally prepared, the fights begin for the Anteater Cohort.
They win flawlessly against two battles, and now the third and possibly the most difficult challenge of them all begins.
S:12 Through team work within the party, the party is able to successfully put down the robots! Wounded but victorious! The other members of the dormitory approach to celebrate and praise the party members. Mafika approaches and told the party to meet with him later for a reward. The party members split up to engage with various people. Nymeria steps away with Esi to talk about Esi's date. Everyone leaves for the night to rest.
Am I Purple??
Meta Warning! This event is only known to the following player: Nymeria
Show SpoilerAdira having been talking with Haibram until he gets tired. Nymeria having Esi melted into the grass getting comfy and looking for assistance to carry Esi's body bac into the dorm for bed. Adira stopping by to see what happened. Adira picks up Esi up like a handbag, and starts to walk with Nym back to the dorm. Nym waterbending the vomit into a ball to clean up. Nymeria giving Esi a ball of water, and Esi takes chomps out of it. Esi having poorly done braids all over their head from Nymeria. Adira and Nym taking time to make sure that Esi is taken care of for the night. Nymeria saying that their loved ones had not been big into drinking before and has been keen on getting the experience. Adira asking the double barrel question of what Nym and Esi talked about. Nym sharing that there was a main topic, but that she will likely need to meditate on it before talking more.

Show SpoilerS:13 - A week passes by from Longnight, and The Anteater Cohort is at Ulawa's office to ask some questions about their investigations recently. Eshe and Rubina mention to Ulawa about the Vessicant Egg. Rubina mentions that they've dreamt of it. Ulawa theorizes that the Vessicant Egg can't possibly be controlling the insects as she has a working theory about mites, but Orvin questions this reasoning as well. With Adira's help in terms of the recent findings at the Tree Stump Library, Teacher Ulawa agrees to give us tasks to investigate further.
With their investigation on their way, they stop by the Greenhouse to investigate an issue with Wood-eating beetles. Immediately abandoned by Nymeria as she goes to hang out with the Leshis. Thema (the attendant in charge of the leshi's care) waves Nymeria in and seems open to the party coming in for their job. Rubina is able to successfully see that the patterns seem purposeful, and she is able to notice that the patterns are part of a larger pattern of a rune of conjuration onto the constructs. Beetles in fact do not do this.
The group arrives at the dining hall, where they meet Esi helping the initiates with the mite problem. The group investigates the kitchen, which they find Ignaci hiding from swarms of the centipedes they were tracking down. The bugs are not as interested in Nymeria. A fight goes down and they're victorious but have taken pretty heavy hits.
