Session 5 - "Yeah, yeah…the flesh empire. We've all seen it"
General Summary
Umbo, umboumbo, umbo-ahem, sorry..., as the team recovers from the previous fight, we finish Chizire's ritual and press on with the Perquisite.
The party makes their way to the clearing of caterpillars, with ailed party members in tow. the party meets an individual Uduak Basni (a planar scion like Eshe). We find out that he is doing his research on the grasshoppers that eat the caterpillars we are after.
Uduak mentions that the caterpillars have an oil on them that causes excrutiating pain when touched…Thanks for the heads up Chizire. Uduak is able to successfully heal our friends of purple pox! No longer down with the sickness. After a hard hour of failed searching, the party is able to spot some of the caterpillars and collect them through Eshe's handiwork and Noxolo's mage hand!
The party returns to Chizire to see he has gotten various burners assembled and bells prepared for the next step of the process. Mariama is present and messing with Chizire. The party is tasked to refine the materials into the proper materials to finish the bells' creations.
Orvin successfully obtains oil from the caterpillars without issue!
Noxolo and Eshe are able to successfully craft their oil from the bones! Eshe, taking their time and with great intention, are able to successfully get what is needed. They take time to note down their work in the process.
Adira and Rubina on the mushrooms! Adira loosened up the mushrooms for Rubina to walk in with the finisher!
Chizire takes our carefully collected ingredients and anoints and blesses our soon to be bells.
The party follows Chizire to the storage closet, and prepare for a joint ritual.
Through absolutely no close calls at all /s the party is able to successfully complete the ritual on the first try! Orvin keeps a mellow background song followed by bells. Eshe asks for prayers and anoints the bells themselves for Chizire. Rubina is willing success in the ritual to stave off any potential chaos. Adira goes up to some of the shadows and intimidate them into cooperating.
Chizire… a little sad… congratulates us on a job well done and asks who would like to get fucked up. Adira and Noxolo rush off for flying lessons, Rubina departs, while Orvin and Eshe discuss the caterpillars well being, and become a pet for Eshe .
The party rounds out the day with some kite lessons and makes their way to bed. Orvin finds a quiet place in the city to reconnect with his muse before retiring to bed. Eshe takes time to deliver a prayer to Nocticula. Beautifully recited, Eshe gets the feeling that something is about to be desecrated that needs to be preserved. Adira would take some time to connect with the talisman gifted to her by Eshe and wills herself to accept another visit from her parents, and almost extends an offer if she is able to. No call from her parents, Adira gets ready for the day.
Enter Ignaci, and Strands-of-Glowing-Dawn Tzeniwe ( a spider mother of two) helping Ignaci today. The party is presented with a group of Elephant birds (choccobos equivalent). Laura has it on site and attempts to bite the Elephant birds' ankles. Our next task…mail delivery. A time old task of keeping society running and individuals in communication. We find out that Strands's son is very interested in sword fighting, and Adira and Orvin express interest in meeting the children. Eshe speaks in Strands's native tongue (Anadi) and express a joy in meeting them. Strands is extatic that Eshe knows the language.
Learned that the Anadi are humanoid spiders that weave illusions to be perceived differently (typically as humanoid).
Rubina assists Adira into getting onto the elephant bird and gives guidance for them to succeed. A wholesome moment of the two expressing kindness to one another.
The party sets off and gets roped into the kindness offered to the party members and share portions of their lives. Adira takes on the more physically challenging letters and encounters an old man (Aric) who reported that he was once a fencer, and he attempts to pass on knowledge (already known by Adira) which she navigates graciously. He passes on the wisdom of those that survive several failures than those that have never failed.
Eshe, toting a letter to a young girl on a nearby farm. the girl reads the letter quickly and begins to write the response immediately to hand back to Eshe. The girl asks for a synonym for eyes, with Eshe responding with Windows. The girl expresses fear that they will be forgotten about by their partner who has gone off to the Magaambya. Eshe offers comfort in the fact that they still remember the idea of the person they had loved even from a past life. Expressing that some bonds are so strong that they will persist. Eshe offers a token of good luck in love.
Rubina of a mind to complete the job efficiently, but getting caught up in connecting with the receivers of the letters. Rubina connecting with a slack jawed young man and explaining how she had killed her parents. Rubina requesting that the man quickly respond to his mother immediately. The man takes time to write out a letter while sweating and doing his best to write a response, along with Rubina's watchful gaze. Rubina explains that the man will feel much better for doing this and she walks away 'knowing' that she has one the world a service by brining a child and parent closer together.
Orvin meets with Makina to deliver her letter to find out that she is being contacted by her ex hsband who is seeking forgiveness and for Makina to meet his new wife. Makina reports that her husband has changed to a faith that would require him to find redemption wherever he can to gain access to his heaven. Makina reports that she plans to torment her ex just for a few years before allowing him freedom from this. Orvin is saved from being pick pocketed by Makina's guard. Orvin makes a teeny pit stop at the ArcaniCo stall to get on the ground level of the company. Orvin plays into the spheel ad gets the name Nyota who may be able to speak more onto the attempts to gain access to the Magaambya markets for ArcaniCo. The salesmen let it slip that laws are planning to be changed by the magistrate mayor sometime in the future to allow ArcaniCo in.
More letter delivery for the party members deciphering and destroying a letter to a god(????). Another letter to a god requires the party to transcribe information onto an eggshell and have that swallowed by a snake. Eshe and Adira placing the egg in water get the littlest snake to eat it successfully. The next god letter requires the party to attach the letter to a kite, and then cut the kite free. The party proceeds to cobble together the materials and finesse the kite into the air. Adira, slowly coaxing the kite into the sky one bit of rope at a time, eventually getting the kite swept into the sky.
With all the letters except one delivered. the party mushes off to deliver one final letter to …the green eyed witch. Upon arrival the party sees many slugs on the house, having trapped the witch inside. the slugs are actively attempting to harm a nearby cat, and the party is requested to save the animal from the slugs. Combat begins…and ends! Defeating the slugs…the party finds a …harpie! To be continued!!!
