Resh
Resh is the first-born of the celestial Stewards, and the first creation of the Mother of Us All (MOUA) after the Giver had passed through her universe, before the Devourer consumed it. Resh was born in a time before warmth and light, existing first in the cold, empty void - but he was created to be a companion and a comfort. Because of this, Resh's personality is one of kindness, thoughtfulness, and contemplation. Additionally, the long period of his existence that consisted only of himself and Mother shaped his calm, patient, and rational demeanor. When his siblings—Zun, Isoko, and Huichi—were created, Resh was overjoyed and took on the role of their protector, cherishing their existence, developing a deep appreciation for life, and seeing them, and eventually the world they would come to Steward, as gifts.
Resh has always been particularly worried about Zun, whose initial protectiveness and black and white view of everything has grown and mutated into extremism and ambitions with each of his successors. Though Zun's turn toward darker tendencies has strained their relationship, Resh continues to care for his younger brother and seeks to maintain peace among his siblings.
Among his creations, Resh is most well-known for crafting the Grizzla, a hardy and resilient race that reflects his own qualities of endurance, love of life, patience, and the strength essential for surviving the harsh winter months. The Grizzla were designed to thrive in the harshest environments, enduring physical and emotional hardships with steadfast determination. They are known for their physical strength, their strong communal bonds, and their deep connection to the natural world. Resh shaped the Grizzla not just as survivors, but as guardians of life, embodying the virtues of patience, wisdom, and quiet strength that are key to his own nature.
In terms of his role as a Steward, Resh governs the season of winter, viewing it not as an end, but as a necessary time of rest, rejuvenation, and preparation for the life that follows. His compassion and patience manifest in the way he approaches his responsibilities, ensuring that life is preserved during the harsh winter months, so it can flourish again in spring.
Throughout the eras, Resh has passed his power stone, a source of his divine abilities, to only 3 mortal successors - Blank, a blank; a woman referred to as “The Nameless Mother,” a blank; and Blank, a Blank.
As with all Stewards, the power contained in his stone diminishes with each transfer, meaning each successor is slightly weaker than the original. Only on his 4th successor, Resh remains relatively capable and powerful, but has always chosen to keep his distance and show restraint.
Divine Domains
Resh governs the domains of Darkness, Winter, Mystery, Solitude, Resilience, Hospitality, Ice/Snow, Mountains, Bears, Wolves, Honesty, Caves/Underground, and the Unknown, overseeing the cycles of nature that ensure life endures through the darkest and coldest seasons. His powers allow him to absorb heat and generate cold, summoning snow, frost, and icy winds. He ensures that the world undergoes a necessary pause to rest and rejuvenate, symbolizing the importance of reflection, hibernation, and restoration.
