Death and the Moon Gate

Death as a Passage:

Death in Alathor is not merely the cessation of life but a metaphysical transition. Through the Moon Gate, the Life Force of a being returns to the cosmos, maintaining the balance of creation and destruction. However, Soulforce, the essence of individuality, can become trapped, lingering as stars if unresolved.

Resurrection and Emptying:

The metaphysical act of resurrection, such as the creation of "The Empty" by Bulan, disrupts this balance. Bulan is able to reconnect a body's lifeforce to the Mother and keep it from departing through the Moon Gate, but she has little or no control of the Soul Force, which escapes and does not return to the body, resulting in living, sentient beings with no sense of "self."
