Tsä-Yrsa

Tsä-Yrsa is a forest inside the Plains of Pesht.

Geography

The forest sits on a relatively flat stretch of the plains, where rich top soil has accumulated, allowing a verdant forest to sprout.

Ecosystem

Tsä-Yrsa is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, being an almost prototypical, ideal forest of the northern regions of Syvat — predominant pine, but featuring spruce and fir, relatively open canopies allowing a flourishing ground-cover for small ferns, frequent small open-air water sources, and the like. In addition to the typical inhabitants of such a forest, Tsä-Yrsa is known to harbour Dweomercats — preternatural (some claim angelic and in service to Madam Midnight) — large feline predators who hunt arcane magic users.

Localized Phenomena

In the western-most extent of Tsä-Yrsa, a gigantic void-dark "tree" can be seen rising above the canopy, which grows significantly thicker around its base. This "tree" appears to be some form of Wound in Reality, though it remains a mystery (for now).

History

According to wide tradition, Tsä-Yrsa was the site of first contact between the Fey of Refrain and the Ihmisii people, marking one of the first points of contact between Harmony and the Refrain after the Disjunction. Unlike most such points of contact, this was cordial, and resulted in the Fey guiding and helping the Ihmisii to found their civilisation. It is unknown how this contact was made, nor why it was amicable unlike the rest. Due to this reason, Tsä-Yrsa has historically been a site of pilgrimmage for cultists of Madam Midnight.
