Madam Midnight Character in Glüm | World Anvil

Madam Midnight

Madam Midnight — also known as the Night Haunter, and the Grave Chimer — is a God recognised by the Church of Eighteen Eyes, believed to rule over the domains of Darkness, Fire, Nightmares, and Pain. Madam Midnight is a terrifying yet inspiring God, said to be that who spurred the first mortals to gather around campfires and fear the unknown dark. They see the world in terms of tests and challenges: mortals must be inspired through fear to achieve their true potential. They are as loving as the lash of a whip, and the heat of a fire foolishly felt.   Madam Midnight is a favoured deity of very few, though is perhaps the most often prayed to, as They are the one who hears all whispers in the night, and who brings courage when all seems lost. They is also considered the creator God of all beings from Refrain and Sustain, given that They caused the Disjunction that seperated those realms out from Harmony.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A primordial aspect of Madam Midnight — known as Night Haunter — plays heavily into most cultures on Glüm as a figure of danger and darkness. The shrouded crone — not unlike a Hag — is a common feature of old stories and stage plays, which is said to represent Night Haunter.
