Saint Rqajna (a.k.a. Lockwreck)

Divine Domains

Saint Rqajna is the patron saint of locksmiths, thieves, and risk-takers, often invoked as a rebuttal when someone is told an action is impossible.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

It is believed by some that Rqajna's Key is an actual physical key that can open any lock, though no such key has ever been publically identified. Still, the symbol of the Key remains a religious icon of the Saint, and depictions of it can be found in many regions of Syvat.

Personal history

Rqajna was a second-generation Urran, born into a settlement that was largely failing; surrounded by splendour, but viewed as a site of pilgrimmage and nothing else. The small town was under the thumb of a religious knightly order — the Masons of the Sealed-Gate — who exacted heavy taxes from pilgrims and locals alike, with two-thirds of the economy bent towards tourism. Rqajna dreamed of gathering enough wealth to overthrow the knights, but had no avenues to earn or create such. Learning stolen secrets from travelling wizards and artisans, she eventually devised a magical "Key" that was said to open even the most tightly-shut door, which she is said to have used on the Vault that would eventually become the centre of the Kannierji.   With the vast wealth she recovered from the Vault, she purchased an army of mercenaries, and ousted the Masons before pouring funds into the town itself. She established the Lockwreck & Fang Banking Company with her associate Irakli Fang — a Serednar mercenary paymaster — which she entrusted to construct the Kannierji. She was set to be crowned the first Sultan of the city several years afterwards by election, but her crown was so heavy with gold and jewels that it broke her neck when placed upon her head. Theologians believe this was the moment of her martyring at the hands of Mother Make Me — specifically in the aspect of King Glim. Her descendants held onto the secrets of her Key, though by popular vote they never again held the title of Sultan.
