Ezlir, God of Flames Character in Glenerene | World Anvil

Ezlir, God of Flames

God of Flames Ezlir

Ezlir is a member of th The Nature Pantheon, though much like his fellow Earendil, God of the Seas he isn't a very active god among the group. He is known to be playful and mischievous though not malevolent. Often when he does decide to interact with the mortal world it is through pranks and light hearted fun often during festivals dedicated to him.

Divine Domains

"Ezlir is a mischiveous force of nature, always causing some sort of chaos. He teachs his followers to always enjoy life and to be passionate in everything they devote themselves to. It's a good way to live, so long as you can handle his whims." - Flame Bringer Iras Blackstone
His domain is fire from the Sun in the sky to the flames in the hearths of the people. He provides warmth and light to Glenerene in all of it's forms. He is considered the most playful of the gods and often instills a great love of life and creation in his followers. Despite this he also is the lord of destruction and those who anger him should be careful, however he tempers this with lessons of forgiveness for wrongs done against oneself.

Holy Books & Codes

Ezlir's followers are bound by a code of honor that places most of it's focus on the principles of forgiveness and to always create and give more than you take in the world.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Often he is symbolized by a phoenix or an anvil, both used to represent the power and creative uses of fire. As his followers focus more on what fire creates than what it destroys.

Tenets of Faith

Ezlir expects his followers to adhere to the following tenents of faith:
  • Pursue something that is creative and productive

  • Forgiveness for wrongs done against oneself

  • Passion for life and all it's highs and lows

  • Loyalty to oneself and to one's beliefs and values.

Trials of Faith:

To become a Flame Bringer, there are three trials that must be overcome. These trials directly correlate to the tenents of faith that Ezlir's followers are expected to uphold.
  • The first trial is arguably the easiest as it requires dedicating oneself to the creation of a grand work of whatever creative pursuit one has chosen. This can be creating an ambitious painting that one thought beyond their skill, the crafting of a fine blade using rare materials one might otherwise be scared to use, ect.

  • The second trial requires one to forgive all those who have wronged them in the past. This must be done with an earnest belief in letting go of old hurts and healing oneself of the burden of grudges.

  • Finally the last trial is one that is personal to each person, it requires one to prove a loyalty to themselves and their core values and beliefs. This usually takes the form of Ezlir himself tempting them in some way to betray what they believe in for some kind of reward though they do not know this until after they have passed or failed.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

His goal is simply to spark the flames of passion and joy within others, and to bring about the warmth of community and healing.
