Skree Mountain

Off the distant western shores of Keoland lies a collection of jagged ocean cliffs that surround a tall, spiraling mountain. The dense fog obscures the sharp stalagmites that protrude from the deep ocean crevasses. The raging rapids and swift currents deter even the most foolhardy adventures. The steep mountainside is covered with petrified trees, their long, gnarled branches unmoving in the breeze.   The central mountain looms over the area. Its peak split into two sharp shards that open into a deep, twisting tunnel. Skree Mountain is a mountain that juts out from the center of a crater formation and is protected by large cliff walls that surround it. From an aerial view the seven sharp tors outline the chained-star of Tharizdûn, the Elder One.   During the stormy season the sharp gusts of wind blow through the stalagmite formations, creating a high-pitched screech. One of the few fishing villages in the area believes the screech to be a cry from a Skree that lives in the Mountain. Village leaders have introduced lore highlighting the dangers of this creature and have used the legends to establish the town as a local tourist destination. Because no one has seen the Skree, the mountain skyscape is a commonplace festival design.   A collapsed cavern lies in the heart of the mountain, trapping the injured Kragnûl. On nights when the stars are darkest, the creature's cries will join the screeching wind. Due to the Skree myths, most religious scholars consider the inherent dread of Skree Mountain rooted in folklore and dismiss Skree Mountain as a potential home to Dulnur's mount.   On the last day of the Festival of the Dawn Father, the Pelor star formation shines down upon the top of Skree Mountain, bathing the area in its gentle light. During the stormy seasons the various land formations block out the light of Pelor.
