Daan

Qualifications

Training

Once someone as been accepted in to the parivaar and designated as a daan, they have several probationary assignments. During these tasks the daan leader is responsible for accompanying them on these assignments. Between the assignments the leader is responsible for providing training excersizes and instilling the parivaar code and the Articles of Agreement to the new initiates. In well-established and organized parivaars this training can last several months. During this time the daan leader are also keeping a close eye on the new trainees, testing their loyality and making sure that they will be a lasting asset and not a liability.

Responsibilities

The daan are responsible for managing sanctioned heists, burglaries and other thefts. They receive their assignmed tasks from the daan leaders with the kijans approval. High profile thefts must have the pujans aproval. Given tasks are selected to promote the parivaars notoriety or coffers. Successful daan are given a portion of the profits from the theft. Daan are aloud to perform their own independent thefts provided a portion of those profits return to the guild. Daan are expectede to reference the off-limits list to prevent interferring with other parivaar arrangements.   Outside of tasks daan are expected to positively represent the parivaar in society. They should patron businesses under the parivaars protection, and not draw unnecessary attention to parivaar locations or opperations. If a daan hears openly disrespectful conversation about the parivaar within the ilaaka, they are encouraged to report it to the kijan, who will work with the shakti on encouraging more respectful conversations within the community, usually through violent means.

Benefits

Being in a parivaar is to have a second family. The parivaar provides a sense of identity, protection, and respect. Due to the rivalry between other parivaars, this protection also comes with risks of retribution. Belonging to a parivaar allows members ato be able to seel stolen goosd away from prying eyes. it also provides some protection from law enforcement, though the amount of protection changes from parivaar to parivaar. While all members of the parivaar receive an income from the groups activities, daan receive an additional cut from the income received from stolen goods.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

How will you know they know? You need not be paranoid. The message will be clear. You might find a note or an etching on your door referencing something others should not know. Once the shatki tips their hand, most steps forward will lead to death.
Few daan leave a parivaar alive. To become a daan is to swear your life and skills to the parivaar. Naal that have done a particularly deep service to the parivaar may request a period of dormancy, but are still expected to support the parivaar in times of need. Inidivudlas who successfully manage to leave the parivaar can still be recognized by trained eyes due to their distinctive mannerisms. If a daan is disloyal to the parivaar, they loose the parivaars protection but do not loose the parivaars enemies.

Only critique is the mention of naal coming out of nowhere in the final paragraph. Are they part of the daan rank? Overall, a good article.

Debating a third world. No, not that kind.
