The Pantheon of Ghemjana

Ghemjana has many gods after the War of the Gods, where deities and entities vied for power and control over the newly formed world. Some were heroes of Ghemjana made immortal by their deeds, others came from other worlds, their followers bringing their faiths with them. As more and settlers came from the stars, many gods found a foothold and their worship spread.   Each god of entity holds a domain or portfolio that they draw power from. When a creature acts within, or strive towards something that falls within a given portfolio, the god that oversees that gains power. Direct prayer and worship also gives power to the entity or god, so cults are often on the lookout to spread the faith to as many people as possible. After all, should their god gain status and power, the greater the magic and abilities may be granted.   Some gods, like Moradin or Yollanda, are the head deities of certain races, such as dwarves and halflings, respectively. These deities oversee their children and their lives, and may also hold other portfolios.   The gods themselves are ranked in a hierarchy, or power level, depending on the size of their portfolio, the number of their followers, or the depth of their domain. For example, Pelor is the god of light and the sun. The act of lighting a candle, being relieved to see light in a dark room, or stoking a fire to see by, are all expressions that gain Pelor power. However, a candle being extinguished, or closing one's eyes against a bright light, bringing darkness, takes power from Pelor and instead Shar, the god of darkness gains power. Thus, power flows back and forth between the gods, depending on the actions, expressions, desires or thoughts of mortals. Without mortals, it is believed the gods could not exist.   And some gods have been slain, even. Whispers speak of the bodies of long forgotten gods, ancient and powerful, drifting in the Astral Sea, slain by titanic forces or other gods, waiting for a rebirth by some happenstance.   The gods are ranked by power, starting with Greater Deities, then Lesser Deities, Minor Deities, Demigods, and finally, Minor Entities. Even if a being is not considered a "god" per common parlance, they are still classified as such within the pantheon when considering their power levels. Hence, Asmodeus, the Arch Devil of the Nine Hells, while not called a "god", is classified as a Greater Deity due to his power and influence.   Below is a list of common domains that the inhabitants of Ghemjana pray to or for, or act in regards to; and the deities that are associated with that particular domain.     List of Deities and Entities
