The Arrival Memorial

The Arrival Memorial is a monument dedicated to the arrival of Felorans to the continent of Galisea during the Feloran Invasion Period. It was erected in the city of Qua'adar shortly after soldiers of the Empire of Felora made landfall in the city. Using a relatively powerful magic, the work of construction was quickly, and the monument was dedicated in less than three months after construction began. As a symbol of soft power, the memorial was built right on the largest and most central of the market squares in the city of Qua'adar, reminding everyone who lived in, or traded in, the city who was the real power in charge at that point. However, as the rule of the Felorans over the people of Qua'adar was significantly gentler the people of Aeilla, or of the nascent Kingdom of Gallaca, it survived the retreated of the Felorans back to Felora proper. Five centuries later and the monument remains a prominent, if relatively controversial monument in the city of Qua'adar, and a focal point for many meetings.
The Arrival Memorial takes the form of a large obelisk crafted out of a mixture of locally available stones melded together through the use of magic into a single colorful mass. Depicted on the obelisk are several sculptures depicting Feloran ships, Feloran sailors, and Feloran culture, as well as a historical sculpture of the day that the Feloran expeditions first arrived in the city of Qua'adar, and therefore the Galisean contient, in force. In its heyday, the sculptures were painted, though now the raw stone of the sculpture shows after five centuries without regular maintenance.
