Tira Vellan

Tira Vellan (Τίρη Βελλή, tr. Tírē Bellḗ) is a language in the Tira Vellan branch of the Continental language family, native to the island of Tira Vella and widely spoken in western Trati. It, along with the closely related Agian and Tirassian, comprise the Tira Vellan branch of the Continental language family.   First directly attested in the third century, and recorded in Arxian records in the first century BCA, it is one of the oldest attested extant languages, though little is known about the earliest forms of the language, as records before the fifth century scarce.   Orthography The Tira Vellan alphabet has been used to write the Tira Vellan language since the mid to late first century first era and is unique to the Tira Vellan languages. In its standard version, it has twenty-four letters, with some additional minor letters used in historical dialects. These twenty-four letters are: Αα, Ββ, Γγ, Δδ, Εε, Ζζ, Ηη, Θθ, Ιι, Κκ, Λλ, Μμ, Νν, Ξξ, Οο, Ππ, Ρρ, Σσ/ς, Ττ, Υυ, Φφ, Χχ, Ψψ, and Ωω.
