WoW Master Plot Plot in Geldora | World Anvil

WoW Master Plot

Since the time of chaos and when the dragons ruled the skies, there has been a constant battle for control of Geldora. In the Age of Upheaval this struggle for control still holds true; the winds of war blow throughout Midvar as armies prepare for battle, spies and saboteurs work their dark arts to gain advantage for their kingdoms, and the gods of chaos eagerly anticipate what's to come. The balance of Midvar sits on the precipice of a cliff and only the stout of heart has a chance to bring peace to the land. This is the time for you and your party to set forth in this world of high adventure!   In Midvar, while the town and city may be safe, the wilderness is vast and hostile. A journey between settlements could take weeks and will see you battle roaming warbands, dangerous beasts, and the elements. The continent of Midvar includes terrain that is as varied as any other. The most dominant feature on the continent is the Cragspire Mountains which run more than half of the continent. The Kingdom of Mera, or simply Mera, is the southernmost nation in Midvar, lying amidst the dense jungles of Ebonwood, the dark unknown of the Grim Mire and the foreboding peaks of the Cragspire and the Artamut.   Mera was once a prosperous kingdom united under the rule of Alveros Tarrenshade. Tarrenshade defended Mera and brought her great prosperity during his rule. This time of prosperity ended when the Dragonborn traitor, High Mage Arkadi Tasimreth, laid waste to the Grand amphitheater and all those in attendance, which included the Royal Family and all but one member of the Curia Regis. As Herald Cale Tisserand was attending a diplomatic meeting with the Ambassador of Yohir in Whitecliff while this tragedy took place, he was the sole survivor of the Curia Regis. With the King's entire bloodline wiped out and no remaining members of the Curia Regis, Tisserand assumed the throne as King of Mera. Tisserand’s first action was to outlaw arcane magic in the Tarrenshade Edict. The Knights Tarrenshade were created under the Assembly of the Penitent to enforce this edict, arresting arcane magic users and placing them into the Pens of Bariya. Over the past 24 Years there have been two Cleansings, each lasting 100 days, the amount of time it took to capture Tasimreth. During each Cleansing, public executions of magic users are carried out throughout all the cities of Mera.   In the aftermath of the Great Betrayal, Mera is no longer unified. There is talk of the collapse of the Kingdom and the great cities of Mera becoming their own independent states. Also, amongst this backdrop, Yohir and Seggath have taken this time of turmoil to try and expand their kingdoms into the Meran territory. The King has ordered conscription to bolster the ranks of the Meran military to protect its borders. Many have tried to conquer Mera and every time this has happened in the past the Meran people have come together and put aside their internal differences to beat back the foreign invaders.
