Giff Subspecies
Among the many half-animal hybrid species in Chronan, the giff stand out as one of the most acclimated to the advanced technology. They are known for their large size combined with surprising dexterity and a knack for mechanical finesse. They have an inherent sense of superiority, despite being among the oppressed tribes. Besides The Freeisles, the giff are prominent in the city of Czenova.
There exists two variants of giff: some have the heads of a hippopotamus while others are born with the head of a rhinoceros. Both subspecies insist on being called just giff, but among other species they are commonly known as hippogiff and rhinogiff.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2. Alternatively, you can increase any of your scores by 2.
Age. Giff have lifespans comparable to humans.
Size. Giff are usually between 6 and 7 feet tall and weigh between 240 and 400 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Firearms Mastery. You have proficiency in all firearms and ignore the loading property of any firearm. In addition, attacking from a long distance with a firearm doesn't impose disadvantage on you.
Superior Build. You have advantage on Strength checks and saving throws. count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1. Alternatively, you can increase any of your scores by 1.
Speed. You have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.
Forceful Spark. When you hit a target with a weapon attack, you can cause extra force damage equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, but you can use it no more than once per turn. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1. Alternatively, you can increase any of your scores by 1.
Hoisting Horn. You have a horn on your muzzle that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. If the target is no more than two sizes larger than you, you can also force it to make a Strength saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier. If it fails, you can lift it 10 feet upwards, causing it to take 1d6 fall damage and be knocked prone if it cannot float. You can only replace one of your unarmed strikes with this trait per turn.
