The Free Cities in the Age of the Crater

In 981 AC, the Skeinshale mine experienced a devestating explosion, causing Skeinshale to "rain" all over New Carydam  and its environs.   A large piece of Skeinshale became embedded in Carida, The Giver. All attempts to remove it have been unsuccessful and it has become to be regarded as something of an augury in and of itself.   Many questions still linger about the explosion--who or what caused it, chief among them. What is certain, however, is that the prevalence of Skeinshale outside the mine completely disrupted the regional economy. Ripples of that echo throughout the current moment.

Stonks Savings and Loan, a bank staffed entirely by ghosts, "blinked" into existence in Quayz due to the circumstances of The Displacement 1079 AC.   The bank began business operations the next day.   Despite lingering questions about where it came from--and, critically, what if it goes away with all of its resources--some residents rely on Stonks for their financial services.   The organizations in Godsmount remain skeptical.

Captain Bones brought attention to the fact that entire sections of the Carydam Catacombs have gone missing, and with that, countless remains of Cityfolk.   At first, his claims were met with deep skepticism. But, after discrete inquiries, it was determined that Captain Bones was correct. The question remains why those particular bones? And are those bones all still together?   This event has given rise to so-called Bone Speculators traveling the catacombs in search of what might have been "blinked in" while the bones were "blinked out."   The groups of Godsmount are incredibly upset at this discovery, going so far as to protect the catacombs with martial violence and to unequivocally state that this is something not to be discussed.
