STATIC 31: An Audience with Elaugzar Wyrdloom

General Summary

Wherein the Blinkertons finally meet Auggie, but are left with more questions than answers.

Campfire & Connections

Our gang finally met Auggie, but before any questions could be asked, Goos found himself transported to a campfire, around which were all of the other members of The Interdimensional Blinkerton Detective Agency) were transported to a campfire. Around which, they got to know each other a bit more--and Goos got to introduce himself to all the other Blinkies--and they discovered that whatever force is pulling them together is powerful. It is that connection that is important, it seems. Interesting!

Answers & More Questions

After an interdeterminate amount of searching, our heroes finally came face-to-face with Elaugzar Wyrdloom. Their meeting was not without friction. First, our heroes wanted to know, namely, what the fuck, bro? Auggie explained that he was not the designer of The Displacement, but rather a scholar of it. He saw them in dreams, and tested them in those dreams. His countless Displacements have led him to him to understand this group as companions equally adept at exploring the strangeness of this phenomenon.   He has determined that the root of Displacement is here, in The Ceaseless Drift. He is confident that this is the realm of the divine. What else could it be, after all?   He explained that he has been following them since their first foray into Displacement, and is confident that, with his help, they can resolve this problem.   He would love to help them figure out what is causing the Displacement more directly, but he can't. It seems that he has been Displaced a bit too much, as evidence of the literal cracks in his face. He's worried that one more Displacement might actually tear the fabric of his very existence apart, and then he wouldn't be able to help in any regard. This worry has left him somewhat bound to his lab, in which time doesn't seem to function as it would normally.   And while he can't control the Displacement, per se, he has learned a bit about how to manage it. He taught them a little of what he knows--namely that it is about manifesting connections between people and places. And a tasy Astral Brownie.   He offered them another clue--a repeated phrase that he's found translated in a dozen languages, several of them no longer extant. Where there is nothing, there is Dream. Where there is Dream, There is Memory. He doesn't fully understand the implications of this phrase, but it seems important. Some of the Blinkertons remembered that they've heard this before--said to Hypatia by Venomhead. Maybe that addled individual knows more? It was determined it might be a good idea to return to New Carydam and ask him.   In order to return to the lab--without the hassle of crossing a Driftmech desert--he asked each Blinkerton to leave something with a meaningful connection to themselves behind. Tridge left behind "Da Bomb" peppers and Obsborn relinquished his family eyepatch. Nero dropped his spear and Fritz left the locket of his nanny. Goos left behind a crystal keg. All of these items should help establish a connection to this lab and enable a return to Auggie when required.   With that, it was time to Displace back to New Carydam, which was uneventful. Except that Fritz was nowhere to be found in No Future. In his place was Corinna. Because, of course.

And That's Where We Left It

We'll discover the import of this during our next session.

Varied & Sundry Details

As if our heroes needed more motivation to solve the Displacement, Auggie showed them possible futures if this phenomenon continued unabated. How did he do this? By asking Nero to punch him and then showing them these visions in his golden drops of Displaced blood, of course.
  • Fritz saw Tyrant and Corrina-pede fighting and destroying everything and everyone.
  • Osborn saw himself constantly falling, awash again, lost in Void and Echo.
  • Tridge saw all realities merging into nothingness. Not peaceful, but the absence of peace.
  • Nero saw himself failing over and over, unable to rise to the moment.
  • Goos saw vast exploitation, the Displacement protected by nefarious interests as it destroyed our very understanding of reality.
All in all, not great!
