Vhessana decides to eliminate a potentialy dangerous opponent, launching war against the Hetarian Empire.
As Hetarian Empire spread its borders, another power grew on the north. Vhessan Empire - after more than two centuries of being focused on internal politics - was once again ready to make the world tremble before its might.
After failure of Elven Empire that was created in big part by Vhessan Empire it ceased to attempt to somehow rejuvenate elven states of Confederation of 40 Tribes, deeming them a lost cause.
Rather than that it began to settle itself in a completely new political situation. After it got more or less stable, Vhessan Empire decided that time has came to expand and grow strong on its own, no longer chained by the wellbeing of elves in general.
Following official annexation of theoretically independent puppet states of Greziya and Armarivia (they were still given a fair degree of autonomy), the legions of Vhessan Empire marched south, hoping to break the spine of the strongest of local human states - Hetarian Empire.
While Hetarian Empire survived the Fifth Eastern War, it still sustained heavy casualties, losing most of Karvathian Upplands.
