A period of internal struggle in Inrithia leads to civil war... which leads to something even worse.
inrithia went into a period of internal crisis after it lost Iron Channel in Ninth Eastern War. Suddenly cut off from profits gained by the control over Channel it began internally collapsing.
Apogeum of the crisis was the attempt of the king Raenear to usurp control over the Church. It was losing its influence for a past two decades at least, with pope Honest IV being nothing more than a puppet.
Usurpation lead to internal split of the Church into royalists and reformatorists, with the second group fighting to restore Church of old. Their call for crusade lead to open civil war. Which was only a prologue to a true disaster.
As reformatorists forces were closing in on Aktaab, king Raenear turned out to be but a puppet of Iucifer, inrithian Archdevil of Pride. His actions allowed his overlord to enter Light, initiating a war known today as First Armageddon War.
It is considered one of the biggest daemonic incursion into the Light in history, with aftershock of Iucifer incursion still felt today. It caused global increase in connection between Light and Dark, making it slightly more 'magical'.
He also caused similar, but smaller, demonic incursion in Kasytia, Senachian Peninsula, Khem and Vhessana, with notably increased ratio of daemonic possesions and manifestations as far as in Dragarian Isles.
Inrithia and Senach was hit the most, but no of the local countries came out without being badly decimated. Entire east was forced to recuperate for years to come - even though Iucifer was finally pushed back into Hell following supposedly direct intervention of Inri himself during decisive battle somewhere east of Aktaab.
