Druids

Druids, the very first of Val's children. They trace their lineage to Firstseed, the first druid created and Val's first husband.
These giants made of rock and plants are a type of  Spirit; Aura courses through them and they are very strong Weavers. They are the only spirits that are willing to interact with the mortal races and are also closely involved with the running of the Academy.
They are Val's peacekeepers and are keen on maintaining the order and balance of Aura and the world.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Druid bodies are made of rock and organic plants. Boulders make up thier torsos, heads, and limbs; roots and vines hold their forms together. Moss grows on their bodies and they  can even bear fruit or sprout flowers.

Genetics and Reproduction

Druids are sexless, yet they still reproduce. They bond with their partner for life, and at the end of their life cycle both druids make a pilgrimage to Firstseed where they join the holy ground. From where their bodies lay sprout one to three plants which are then brought to Malvo where the grow into druids. This process from death to rebirth may be the shortest thing in the lifespan of a druid, taking merely a decade before the druid offsprings are fully grown.
When one of these druids is the King of druids, one of these plants will be a golden apple tree, which will grow into their next King.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most druids keep to themselves. They live in the southern forests and seldom venture from Malvo.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Druids live in peace with all of Val's children. Plants freely grow on their bodies, animals eat from them, and even use them for nests or hideouts.

Civilization and Culture

History

The first druid was Firstseed, Val's husband whom she had created to help her tend to life. He helped her shape the world, and they both gave a part of themselves - Val gave her power to the world and Firstseed gave his body to act as a conduit. As such, he turned into a great tree and from him sprout a forest. From this bond and sacrifice, Aura gave rise to life in Valessia. Druids emerged from Firstseed's Womb and have kept the peace in nature ever since.
- From druidic teachings   Druids have kept to their own affairs for most of history. Though they have always travelled the world, teaching others about Val's gifts, it was only recently that they have proprely involved with the other inhabitants of Valessia. When Thaumaturgy was discovered, King Thirdseed knew that he must guide the Thaumic races to use this power responsibly. His efforts have unfortunately been fruitless as the disputes between the races escalated into the Thaumic War. King Thirdseed died in the war, though his remains were salvaged and King Fourthseed came to be. Fourthseed is now closely involved with the functioning of the Academy, acting as the head of the House of Seeds on the Academy Council.
