Spirits; Fae

Spirits, also referred to as Fae, are not a singular species, rather it's a classification of various pure- Auric beings. Spirits are inherently tied to the world's Aura and at least one worldly element. They have inherent extremely strong Weaving abilities, some exceding even the capabilities of Thaumaturgy. Spirits are always long-lived up to several thousand years.
Little progress has been made in the study of spirits, as they are a rare occurance and very easily hurt by Thaumic pollution, thus they are never found in areas with any pollution level.
Druids are the best known spirits and the only ones that cooperate with other races. The sapient offspring of a spirit and non-spirit are known as Faechilds.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Spirits are varied in their appearance depending on their creation. While spontaneously created ones are largely humanoid, they often possess animal traits, sometimes they even appear as animals. Mutated spirits take on a mutated appearance of their non-spirit parent (see Reproduction). Sometimes spirits are not even composed of organic matter, as is partly the case with druids.

Genetics and Reproduction

There are two main known ways of a spirit's creation:
1. Spontaneous creation - according to druid teachings, heavy concentration of Aura will bring a spirit into creation. These spirits are always bound to element(s) over which they have natural control. They are mostly sexless, and almost always sapient. The ones that do have reproductive organs can produce either a faechild (if sapient) or another spirit (if non-sapient), bringing us to the second method.
2. Mutation - when a spontaneously created spirit, it gives its power to its offspring. This child then mutates; it has inherent though low weaving abilities and a twisted appearance. Such spirits are also completely infertile.
It is believed mutation is what happens with the creation of a faechild, yet their sapience and fertility have not yet been explained.
