The Cleaving

The Cleaving was a semi-legendary event during The Godswar, in which a seeming mortal with extraordinary abilities named Sigdurn (not yet one of the Nostín), smote the land of northwestern Abhagan, creating a colossal fissure and causing the modern island of Hrafnawyld to drift away from the mainland.

"When called upon for aid, his answer was swift,

Faithful to gods of whom he knew naught.

At Wolfsister's bidding clove he into Gæðí and Ræðbjand bit deep,

Sundering the land with rushing waters, our fair country's birth.

The gods' hosts guarded by the sea had the mastery then, the victory-cry was raised,

There were the Unmaker and Ice Maiden bound.

Sigdurn, World-Cleaver, loyal, we sing of thee!"
