Vowkindling
The Vowkindling is a sacred ceremony in which an adherent of the Sconce swears an oath before the blazing altar of Uthgar. The ceremony takes place in a grand hall of obsidian, where a towering brazier filled with molten lava burns continuously. The initiate steps forward, their hand held over the searing flames, and speaks their vow aloud, declaring their promise to the god and the Sconce. Once the vow is made, the Emberhands throw special herbs into the fire, causing it to flare brightly, as if Uthgar himself has acknowledged the oath. The initiate’s hand is then branded with the mark of the flame, symbolizing their eternal bond to Uthgar’s fire. These burnt beings are rare and the Searing Conscriptor will brand the hands of new initiates if Uthgar does not present the brand himself.
