The Memory of the Sea
A funeral ceremony where the body of the deceased is placed on a raft, adorned with flowers and seaweeds. The raft is set adrift into the stormiest waters, symbolizing the return of the soul to Sootha’s embrace. As the raft disappears into the horizon, Wavecallers invoke the goddess to guide the departed safely into the afterlife.
