Scriptkeeper Hall

Scriptkeeper Hall rises beside the upper market roads of Blackstock, its narrow towers and slanted slate roofs overlooking the bustle below like a patient observer. Though smaller than the great academies of Skygarde or Kerri, the hall holds enormous influence throughout the eastern Heathlands. Reeves, quartermasters, heralds, tax collectors, and military recordkeepers all pass through its timber doors at some point in their careers. The building smells constantly of candlewax, vellum, and damp ink. Messengers climb its steps carrying armfuls of sealed correspondence while exhausted scribes hunch over long tables copying decrees from the Rook’s Hold into official ledgers.
The walls inside are crowded with shelves of weathered records detailing harvests, treaties, bloodlines, and Moot proceedings stretching back generations. Some chambers are reserved for the chroniclers of House Rawlin, whose task is to preserve the victories and failures of Blackstock without alteration. During the Eastern Moots, Scriptkeeper Hall becomes one of the busiest places in the city as emissaries and claimants flood its archive rooms searching for ancient claims, forgotten accords, or evidence to discredit rivals. The bronze ingots stamped with the town treasury records are stored here as well, allowing a week by week transaction history of the town commodities.
