Kronimane Character in Galfin | World Anvil

Kronimane

In the vast city of Ourellia, the boy who would later be infamously known as Kronimane spent hours on end in the library of the great temple. Here is where he met Allseer, a revered prophet who secluded himself from the toils of the big city. He only appeared when he was researching new spells, the young boy took a keen interest in Allseer. The weathered man told stories of old where the elves ruled all of Galfin, and the primal humans were nothing more than slaves; it was a time when all of Galfin was at peace. Young Kronimane listened to the stories with such awe, always dreaming of a world ruled by elves; and in his dreams it was he who led the black sun elves to not only conquer the humans but all the other less powerful species of elves. Now a teenager, Kronimane had learned from Allseer how to master the natural dark magic all black sun elves had. All of his kind could turn invisible, create illusions, cause confusion and many more types of trickery but only a few had the grand ability to raise the dead. The prophet saw this ability in the young elf and helped him master his necromancy, Kronimane was quickly becoming a well known wizard; around Dynastes and the rest of Galfin. As he grew in power, he corrupted the Manastrife Union into taking the native featherbloods into slavery. He was starting to realize his dream one race at a time.   One day, Boto Silverstaff came to Dynastes on a mission of peace, he wanted to help the native featherbloods by stopping the enslavement. Boto confronted Kronimane in a battle that has been written about for decades. The two powerful wizards went head to head for hours, neither giving in. Kronimane had strategically placed himself in a farming town, knowing Boto would have to hold restraint so he would not not harm the village of black sun elves. The good wizard had the black sun elf cornered; Boto had a constant beam of light concentrated on Kronimane, the only thing defending the evil wizard was the purple shield surrounding Kronimane's body. The protective orb's power was waning, Kronimane seemed to be losing his strength; Boto pressed forward, approaching unrelentlessly. As Boto started to gain the upper hand, Kronimane released a dark energy field; the powerful sphere grew larger and slew every villager in the town, while knocking his opponent backwards. Boto had never seen such ferocity from any wizard, he had never faced this amount of power. For the sake of all Galfin, Boto knew he couldn't let this powerful black sun elf wizard live, but Boto was no murderer. He knew what must be done, he went in for the final blow; Boto reached into the sky as his staff lit up like a solar flare, the good-hearted wizard cast a wave of light towards his adversary, hoping to end the battle with one fatal strike. Kronimane was not easily defeated, a direct blast from Boto's spell should of ended this dark wizard's conquest but he would not let that happen. Kronimane powerfully pressed his staff into the ground; as the light wave approached, all the slain villagers were reborn by the necromancer as his dark minions, they gathered in front of the powerful dark wizard and took the brute of Boto's blast. Boto could not believe the disregard for life he just witnessed, Kronimane killed an entire village just to ressurect them as cannon fodder. As the rubble settled, the two mighty wizards stood exhausted, each was breathing heavily readying themselves for what their counterpart would do next. Boto Silverstaff stood with scrapes all over his body and sweat running down his nose; Kronimane's legs were trembling and the cut on his forehead had left a smeared stain of blood across his purple skin. The human wizard stood mere feet away from his greatest foe, unable to pull together the strength to finish the dark elf off. Kronimane had his greatest threat almost beaten, Boto's glasses were broken, his body was beaten and only his mind remained. Both wizards could see the other one looking for an advantage, some way to defeat their foe. Suddenly, Kronimane's muscles tightened; as if he was readying for his last ditch attack, Boto brought his staff up in front of his face and readied himself. Almost simultaneously the two powerful wizards collapsed to one knee out of pure exhaustion. As Boto looked up at Kronimane, the first words of their encounter were spoken by the black sun elf.   "This is far from over." Kronimane breathed as he closed his eyes, the dust beneath the necromancer's feet started to float and spin, encircling the black sun elf.   In a whirlwind of grey dust, ash and debris from the broken buildings, Kronimane faded away with the wind through his disapparation spell. Boto collapsed under the weight of his own exhaustion. He awoke later in the hands of some featherbloods, eager to help their hero recover.   Kronimane reappeared in the grand temple, broken and beaten. He sought aid but none was given, from a distance the high priest; leader of the entire city of Ourellia, witnessed the young Kronimane destroy an entire village of the his own people. Kronimane was incarcerated, leaving the bitter taste of a draw being the only thing that could drive him as he was locked away for decades.   In current days, the black sun elf empire was crumbling, the Manastrife Union's reputation as a fearsome military force had withered away with age, the law and order had died with the high priest and his daughter Esabelle was getting desperate. On one solemn day, an elf arrived in the grand temple, looking as if he could turn to dust and wither away at any moment, the man wore the robes of a ancient cult of black sun elf prophets, he told of one last vision he had the previous night, the old elf retold the high priestess that it was of the Manastrife Union being held at their former glory, ruling all of Galfin with a powerful reign of control. Esabelle was very intrigued, she quickly asked how she could reach this era of elven prosperity. He said one word.   "Kronimane."   Esabelle was dumbfounded, she had not heard the name of that great wizard since her father created laws against even speaking let alone praising that name. Her guards immediately rushed down to the prison to release the aged necromancer. As Esabelle praised him and apoligized for her father's insolence, Kronimane stopped her.   "Child. There is no need for apologies, Your father thought that a lawful and good state of affairs could help mend his broken government, he was wrong. What you need is disorder and chaos, that is how we will conquer the feeble minds of Galfin." Kronimane spoke as if he had this speech planned since he was first locked in the dungeon of the grand temple.   Kronimane was declared a war hero and praised by the citizens of Dynastes. He was given an old piece of land that had sat dormant since around the time Kronimane was jailed. Whoever owned it had passed away decades ago and Esabelle was more than happy to give it up.   Later that evening, Kronimane entered his new piece of land, walked passed the rickitey old manor and carried on straight to the back acre. He walked as if he had been there before. Finally he stopped at a freshly dug hole in the ground that had a moss-covered stone tablet residing beside it. This dark hole had an eerie feeling to it, it looked as though it was dug from beneath the ground. As Kronimane stood over the hole, a familiar old elf walked up, not saying a word; it was the elf who convinced Esabelle to let Kronimane out of his dark, forsaken prison. The elves looked at eachother and it was clear that they had once been friends. The old elf carefully lowered himself into the hole and layed on his back with his arms crossed against his chest. Kronimane's eyes lit up bright purple as did the old elf's. The decrepit body became lifeless in what now resembled a grave. With a quick flick of his wrist, the earth moved and covered the remains of the old man. The powerful necromancer reached over to the nearby rose bush and grabbed one of the thorned flowers. After a few moments, Kronimane kneeled down and placed the rose beside the stone tablet; looking up, the necromancer wiped the overgrown moss off of the stone. He walked away without saying a word.   The grave now looked undisturbed, as the magic Kronimane moved the earth with also made the grass regrow. The only difference was that the name on the gravestone was clear for all to read   "Allseer".   157   Elven english, orcish, old dwarven   necromancy   master magician   mastermind   ruthless   vain   A prophecy told him that the only person who was meant to kill him was a great assassin known as the Night. The Night was killed by Orion Skytracer when the king hired him to kill a miner but then caused the cavern to fall and kill the assassin.
