Forgebonding
In the Uthgarian Sconce, marriage is not just a union of two souls but a binding oath witnessed by Uthgar himself. The wedding ceremony, known as the Forgebond, is conducted at a sacred forge, where the heat of Uthgar’s flames signifies the intense passion and commitment of the couple. The bride and groom, both dressed in ceremonial garb adorned with symbols of fire and molten gold, approach the forge accompanied by their closest kin and fellow Sconce members.
At the heart of the ceremony, the couple forges two iron bands, working together to shape the metal over the flames. As the molten iron cools, the Flamekeeper blesses the ring, invoking Uthgar to seal their vows in unbreakable flame and pouring mokten gold over the iron. The couple then each places a drop of their own blood onto the rings, symbolizing their unyielding commitment and the life they now share. The ceremony concludes with the couple walking barefoot across a path of hot coals while holding hands.
