Alcoran Pathfinders
The Alcoran Defense Force's Ranger regiment
Composition
Manpower
3200 soldiers
60 civilian staff
Equipment
The Alcoran Pathfinders are a light infantry regiment, specifically dedicated to operations in all terrains, be it mountainous, swamp, tropical, temperate, or desert.
Weaponry
Pathfinders are equipped with the same weaponry as the mainstream Alcoran Land Defense Forces, but are trained more in depth in their maintenance and use.
Vehicles
The Pathfinders are trained in the use of light vehicles, predominantly for transportation rather than focused use on the battlefield.
Structure
The Alcoran Pathfinders largely belong to the 8th Pathfinder Regiment, but can be detached and joined to other divisions as needed. The regiment is composed of three battalions. HQ and logistical capabilities are often provided by specified logistics and HQ divisions.
Tactics
The Pathfinders are a light infantry battalion, in addition to a rapid-response force. A battalion of Pathfinders can be deployed anywhere in the world in 24 hours, and one battalion is always battle-ready, while the other two are in constant training. Infiltration and operations in difficult terrain are their bread-and-butter, but over the years, the Pathfinders have been involved in hostage rescue, abduction, and sabotage missions
Training
Training for the Pathfinders occurs in a variety of locales and bases across the Panthalassa Alliance. Predominantly however, their training takes place in Alcora. Fort Rastin by Port Rastin, Fort Kirwin, and Fort Calventon are three major facilities used for training, namely for urban, coastal, arctic, and forest environs.
Pathfinder training is available to any soldier who passes basic training, but the testing is rigorous. Failure of any test at any point leads to dismissal from the training program.
