According to Genesis II this is approximately the time when Velrie created humankind.

Velrie first creates humankind around this time in human history. Genesis II: Madame & Reeve in the The Script is the basis for the idea that all humanoid races are mutations of humans, and are therefore inferior. This has been the root of special tensions among the inhabitants of Gale for as long as life has inhabited the planet.  
Wait wait wait... HOLD UP! So you're telling me that the universe has existed for 8 BILLION years and it took Velrie... hmmm let me do so quick math...
8 billion - 2234 = basically 8 billion
