Central Medical Nanoresearch & Control Facility

We are the bleeding edge of what will keep our species healthy in the years to come.
— Medica Scientifica Director
Spāgzēž is the primary Central Medical Nanoresearch and Control facility, a department of the Medica Scientifica, the medical branch of the Sērbaka Science Institute. This secure facility is located deep within a mountain tunnel complex situated alongside the Tšēžt Caldera Hot Spot and is tasked with monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining all Imperium citizen nanotech implants. Among its most important functions is in ensuring nanotech anomalies are isolated, quarantined, and evaluated to ensure safe operation of all medical nanotech in Imperium territory.

Facilities

The complex is built under 800 meters (2,600 ft.) of granite, encompassing 25,000 square meters (approximately 6 acres). The main chambers contain sixteen four-story situated around a central suspended supercomputer core. Construction techniques ensure the buildings and computer core are protected from movement, e.g., earthquake or explosions; the most recent retrofit ensures they cannot shift more than 20 mm (3/4 or 0.75 inch). This facility also holds the highest certified capacity to sustain full functionality in the event of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Further antechambers located directly off this primary chamber includes large numbers of beds, including suites for high-ranking officers within the bunker, as well as standard medical facilities, stores, cafeteria, and fitness centers.

Containing its own power plant, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, and an independent spring water supply, all designed to ensure a 99.999% degree of reliability of the Nanotech Control Supercomputer; this equates to 3 minutes 25 seconds per year of downtime. During these brief periods of downtime, control is randomly switched to one of several redundant backup facilities, a process that takes microseconds.

BLAST DOORS

The underground complex is designed to deflect a 50-megaton nuclear blast as close as 2 kilometers (1.2 mi). This is partially through specific engineering practices, which dissipate the blast wave significantly, prior to reaching a series of 24-ton blast doors. Furthermore, complex is equipped with unique filters to capture airborne biological, chemical, nanotech, nuclear, and radiological contaminants.
