Oflijan Registered Magic User License

So, you want to use magic? Well, not so fast! Before you can cast spells as you please, you must first obtain a Registered Magic User (RMU) License.1 The process is simple, but can be intimidating, so to help you along the Ministry of Magical Resources has created this step-by-step guide along the path to your very own RMU!
Why an RMU License?
As a country with a strong military history, Oflij has had a hand in helping stop many wars across Judera. You may know of our key role in the War of Skolian Succession. Without the decisive strength of Oflij's army, the war could have lasted much longer, resulting in unnecessary bloodshed. But part of our key to success is our strategic use of all the resources we have available, and that includes magic users like you! As you know from your registration process when you first identified your talents as a magic user, it is important in all walks of life to be able to use your magic well, because it is unique to you and can be a great help to your neighbors and your country.2 The best way to help others with your magic, whether in the battlefield or in your neighborhood, is to know how to use it safely. You certainly don't want to accidentally burn someone's home with a faulty fireball! These licenses are also helpful if you want to have a career using magic, whether as a scholar, adventurer, or any other occupation you can think of!
What kind of RMU License should I get?
The kind of license you get depends on what kind of magic you have and what kinds of things you want to do with it. Do you want to use your magic in everyday situations, as a way to help yourself and others with tasks? The option for you is a General RMU (GRMU). Are you fascinated by magic and want to do more in a research setting? Then the Scholar's RMU (SRMU) is the one for you! If you're more interested in using your magic in the arena or as a show, you're more likely going to need an Entertainer's RMU (ERMU), which has subcategories for street magic or arena magic. But if you're looking for a way to join your country's armed forces, you will need a Combat RMU (CRMU). If you have more specific questions about which license best suits your goals, please stop by at a MMR Registry building to ask one of our helpful Licensing Assistants.
How do I get my RMU License?
We've put together a helpful step-by-step guide to acquiring the right RMU for you.
  1. Register with the MMR as a magic user. You should already have this done as soon as your magical abilities present themselves, so that's one step already complete!
  2. Fill out your RMU License registration form. You can find these forms at MMR Registry buildings. This will help us know where to find your file and let us know what kind of license you want, so that we can better serve you!
  3. Attend the required Licensing classes. These classes are specific to the type of license you want to get, and will help you learn how to control and use your magic in a safe and purposeful way. You will be enrolled in these classes once your RMU License registration is processed.
  4. Fill out and submit your RMU License application. You will need your instructor's signature to show that you have taken your classes and passed at a sufficient level. These forms can be found at MMR Registry buildings or wherever you take your Licensing classes.
  5. Pass your RMU License test. You can sign up for a testing appointment when you submit your application. These examinations will test your practical and theoretical knowledge of the laws surrounding magic use in Oflij and ensure that everyone stays safe around magic.
1Please note that magic users within the Frozen Wastes territory are not required to hold a RMU License when practicing magic in this territory. 2All magic users should note that they are subject to draft laws regardless of their licensing status and may be required to have additional training in war magic in times of war.
