An ancient profession, bounty hunters are illegal in virtually all kingdoms and countries across Galactus, but this has only served to make them more sought-after professionals, especially in the realm of political intrigue. They are a poorly kept secret often used by leaders and law officials who seek elusive prey - those who work to undermine them.

The profession of bounty hunter is difficult to achieve, especially in a world where to openly declare oneself as such is often a death sentence. Bounty hunters must be skilled in the arts of secrecy and intrigue, as well as having skill with a weapon - many targets do not wish to be taken. A great bounty hunter will be able to track down their target from continents away and bring it into custody by whatever means necessary within the bounds of their bounty agreement.

Career Progression

There is not a real career "track" for a bounty hunter - it is simply a matter of discreetly advertising one's services so that one is well-known by all the right folk, while avoiding those who would have them arrested and put to trial.

Bounty hunters are usually paid very well - it is a lucrative career if one has the skills and connections. Some targets are worth more than their weight in gold and gemstones.

Bounty hunters are always in demand amongst the political circles of the world - someone will always want another disappeared or brought to them for a wide variety of purposes. Some wish to find runaway children, others criminals or political opponents that need to be removed from the equation.

Social Status

Bounty hunting is an illegal profession across most of Galactus but in more "unofficial" settings it is widely known of and used. It is still legal in some places in Krobesh, Chiarei, and Ephora, although this also makes the profession less lucrative as the supply is more than the demand and most bounty hunters in these areas work for much lower prices.

History

Bounty hunting has been a profession since almost the time of the Era of Creation. It began to be banned around 300 BV in more developed areas, and this soon spread across most of the rest of Galactus. In present times, it is highly illegal but more sought-after than when it was legal to practice.

The tools of a bounty hunter vary from individual to individual. Most bounty hunters carry their signature weapon, various restraining devices such as handcuffs, chains, and rope, and use their influence and skill to get the rest of the job done. Some also carry sleeping potions and other sedatives along with the rest of their kit to make retrieval easier.

Bounty hunters operate in all conditions, climates, and locations. They are very adaptable and will often travel between continents following a target or looking for work.
