Overview
Living next to an abundance of maldanite ore will cause maldanite poisoning. This is specifically next to maldanite ore, not the metallic substance that is purified and separated from the maldanite core. The listed effects are also more severe when next to exposed cores.

Mental illness later in life,
shorter life spans,
mutations,
no magical abilities of any kind,
specific mutations include orange or bonze eye color, orange nails, and hair color changing to an orange or bonze color.
These effects only affect intelligent humanoids, animals seem not to be affected.
