B&T Chapter 9: Undead Insurrection

General Summary

• Master Obu forages and finds seeds from the Moonseed plant
• Final day of travel is handled expertly; Sharpjaw & Flurry lead the group to victory and Shaprjaw forages enough edible plants and lizards for everyone to eat
• Venture through the woods and find the Ruins of Leuiamot, covered in overgrown rocks and decaying structures. Sharpjaw uses Primeval Awareness to detect the stain of undeath
• They find a small passage; Master Obu is polymorphed into a squirrel by Nolya (4th level spell), who also casts Find Traps (2nd level spell) to search the miniature passageway. After crawling through it, Master Obu is unpolymorphed
• They meet Warvillus; he raises an undead army of a Forest Giant and hundreds of Ogre Zombies/Skeletons
• The gang decides NOT to stop the undead army from travelling to Islador, instead joins them on their 3-day march.
• Balcazar casts Reptilian Reanimation (3rd level spell) on the Kobolds, gaining an army of 24 kobold zombies. While they would ordinarily last 10 minutes, the dark energy fueling the undead army helped maintain the spell for the entire journey
• They raid Islador and split up: Nolya & Sharpjaw get the potions and the carriage (now updated to be flyable) from the Dracolord's Palace, while the rest went to the Brawling Branch
• Fork & Balcazar raided it for booze and Swamp Diesel; Draconius & Master Obu convinced Stonius to abandon his bar and come with them, leaving Stonius resentful of Sharpjaw, who is firing explosive arrows from the incoming carriage
• The Kobold zombies load the carriage with 20 medium barrels of booze (10 ales, 5 whiskeys, 2 imported vodkas, & 3 imported rums)
• Sharpjaw & Master Obu burned down the Brawling Branch, Sharpjaw using his last three explosive arrows and Master Obu casting Guiding Bolt (1st level spell). Stonius sheds a single tear in lizard form, which he took on after drinking Master Obu's Wild Shape potion. Balcazar captures the tear in his vial, adding to the ogre fingernails he needs for the Fool’s Gold recipe.
• In the air, they can see that while this section of Islador is in a partial state of ruin, the threat seems to be contained here. They find the Undead Forest Giant fighting against four dragons, who can't damage it with their poison breath but are chipping away with their claws & bites
• Since they need organic matter from a Forest Giant, Balcazar casts Hypnotic Pattern to charm the giant, then speaks in Giant to convince it to offer up its finger (someone else did something, but I can't remember what). The giant presents its hand and Balcazar uses his Greataxe (or gives it to Draconius) to chop off a finger, then Draconius jumps out of the carriage to grab the finger and cast Dimension Door (4th level spell) into the carriage again
• Dracolord Raizon enters the fight and uses Toxifire Breath to incinerate the Undead Forest Giant. Warvillus' whereabouts are unknown to the party, but it can be assumed that he knew of the crew's abandonment of his cause and betrayal against the giant. It is also assumed that the invasion failed, with the Ogre Zombies and Skeletons being destroyed and Warvillus being captured, killed, or escaped into hiding.
• The crew majestically sails through the sky towards Vas Dregas, as the newly winged Drakes roar in triumph. Stonius agrees to go with Draconius and his crew, but not without resentment towards Sharpjaw and Obu for burning down his bar.

• 20 medium barrels of booze (10 ales, 5 whiskeys, 2 imported vodkas, & 3 imported rums) stored in the Bonemobile, in addition to the ceramic jars of Reaper Dragonborn blood
• Finger of a Forest Giant zombie
• Upgrade to the BoneMobile, making it compatible with air travel
• Upgrade to Flurry & Lamarva via potion (note indicates that Helgra crafted the potions as thanks for Balcazar's sexual prowess), granting them wings (Flurry) or improving their flight capabilities (Lamarva)

• 1/8th of Swamp Diesel, taken from a trapped patron in the Brawling Branch as it burned
• 1 tear from Stonius in lizard form
• +10 training days with the Greataxe thanks to his successful chopping of the Forest Giant's finger
