B&T Chapter 8: Welcome to the Jungle

General Summary

Opening

• Are summoned by the dragon to speak with him in private. Paid 12,000 gp by Stonius (2,000 each) for the fight
• Speak to an Islador official working in Dracolord Raizon (claims to be second in command, but isn't), who reluctantly gives them a quest to explore a nefarious necromancy scheme in the ruins of Leui'amot
• Heads to the Brawling Branch, Fork spent 2 gp and bought a double round for a table of dragonborn who lost bets on the Dragoknights
• Sharpjaw challenged Stonius and lost, but vows to return and burn down his bar. Fork defeats the loser and becomes popular man of the night
• Everyone Long Rests; BoneMobile is being upgraded by a magic tech-savvy kobold & Drake Enhancement drugs are being contracted to Helgra
• Group heads out into the woods the next day; Master Obu casts Create Food & Water to make up for Sharpjaw's lackluster foraging
• They realize they are being followed by something; Sharpjaw casts Darkvision for the group and they eventually find a Dragonborn
• Balcazar casts Blade Ward, Sharpjaw casts Hunters Mark, & the rest prepare for battle

Aftermath

• Fork loots for booze, but finds nothing. Draconius Arcana checks the battleaxe, Balcazar picks up the axe and takes it
• Draconius Arcana checks the werebear blood for magical properties and discovers the lycanthropy curse

• Wakes up the next day, ready to travel.
• The gang rolls survival checks (Balcazar 14, Nolya 18, Sharpjaw 28). Successful day 2 of travel, but Sharpjaw notices animals hunting them
• Various people cast Speak With Animals, the players talk to the pack of Drake Wolves and ask not to be eaten
• They meet the Alpha, who is a werewolf. Master Obu casts Dominate Beast to control the werewolf
• The gang befriends the wolf pack, Master Obu makes a perfect fire
• Master Obu searches for plants, but fails. Nolya helps him to find an opalescent feldspar

Pick one for each day of travel, base the decision off DM's choice. If the hunting party attempts Stealth, their Stealth roll must beat Sharpjaw's Survival check or Passive Perception (12, whichever is greater). If Sharpjaw wins these and notices the hunters, he can lead his party to engage (roll initiative) or escape (group Stealth check). If the hunting party does not attempt Stealth, Sharpjaw's danger sense will immediately detect them, allowing him to engage or elude the danger at the point of detection.
